Otherwise, it's not terrible.. at least for me, anyway.
That being said I think I enjoyed it a little more than most people for some reason. Probably just because of the aesthetics.
I do agree that the general aesthetic of the area is gorgeous (when you can see, that is).
The most frustrating thing about the area, honestly, is that damned evergaol with 4 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BNAs wandering around it, while these absolute ♥♥♥♥ archers keep shooting at you. What I hate most is the BNAs are invisible, requiring you to use a sentry torch, so if your build hinges upon using two different tools at once for heavy combat, well ♥♥♥♥ you I guess?
I dislike the charriot dungeons. Do not go into those areas carrying a lot of souls with you. Chances are you might not be able to collect them back.
I absolutely agree that Consecrated Snowfield has massive problems with monster scaling and "fun" factor. I have only created it on NG+1 (ie. Journey 2) so pages were not any different than on NG and I could easily dispose of them, however, their crossbow salvo is absolutely terrifying if you are hit by all 3 bolts.
Rune bears / Runic bears are absolutely horrible monsters in any region where you face them. Way too much HP, way too relentless attack chain and too much mobility.
Those archers are just stupid, and clearly broken. Their AI is clearly broken as they will continue attack if you are in their range even if you are out of their LOS. I stood there for 10 minutes and their arrow spam nearly broke the game as it could not deal with the amount of objects they spawned.
My main problem with Consecrated Snowfield was that it was not fun to play, no fun at all. I understand that some areas are designed to be challenging or annoying on purpose but they need to be short and there should be very good reason for them to be such pain in the ass. None of that is present or valid for Consecrated Snowfield region.
That being said, now that I’ve explored it and such, I 100% go derbying past 95% of it on Torrent
