ELDEN RING
What the hell is that giant face corpse under stormveil castle?
The one you can see after fighting the lesser ulcerated tree spirit. Its clearly a giant face, you can see the nose holes, and eyes, or what's left of them, with vertical, almost reptilian looking eyelids.

But then the rest of it seems to just merge into the floor. Its odd, wtf is that?

Well, I really don't know but this game has some connection to aliens and stars (like that final boss in Ranni's quest).

So I would say it is some kind of malformed start, or ancient being long dead.
I second the question.
I've taken a look at youtube but couldn't find anyone mentioning it and I don't remember any reference in game.
It's been puzzling me since the moment I saw it.
It's clearly the Kraken.
It's Godfrey the Golden, prince of death, the soulless demigod.

I mean, if that's the case, then What's up with the other Godwyn corpse at the end of Deeproot Depths? They can't both be Godwyn, can they?

I think it's supposed to be the corpse of Godwyn... who was maybe the first god to die and that started the shattering? I could be completed wrong on this. It's hard to follow the mythology.

This one is Godwyn corpse
Also I don't think Godfrey was a giant reptile...

When they buried him the essence of death seeped through the roots throughout the land, hence the existence of death root.

I'd imagine the Stormveil face is a manifestation of that.

Godwin corpse is now tied to the roots to a point where he spreads with the roots of the tree

Rogier tells you. Fauxpas has it right.
As I understand it, that face under Stormveil Castle was created due to the influence of the corpse of Godwyn which is located at the roots of the Erdtree in Deeproot Depths. Since he is the Prince of Death and connected to the roots spreading all over the Lands Between, his corpse is spreading Death all over the place, thus the face-like growths might be accumulations of Death materializing as Godwyn's corpse.

There's also a few crabs that spew Deathblight clouds and also feature a face-like growth on their shells.

Godfrey is someone completely else, he's the person in question's father and not dead.

Makes no sense to be Godfrey. This is a boss, the one with the lion on his back.
That creature is dead while Godfrey is alive and you meet him.
Meh, too many characters with similar names ...

To much god in this game... Godfrey, Godrick... and then Godwin, easy to mix things up
