How do i pull off a slide attack?
so a few days ago i was watching a video on youtube, and this guy playing Elden Ring was using a move that, to this day, i still haven't figured out how to pull off.

basically what he does is he runs towards a mob then does a forwards slide and hits it while dodging its attack at the same time

how many first borns to learn this secret?

Is that weapon curved sword?

It sounds like he was using a war ash of some sort but without the video we may never know for sure.
Hitboxes in this game can be fairly accurate or janky (depends on how you look at it), so it could have just been a sprint -> quickstep -> attack (after dodge attack since quickstep), with the enemy attack missing.

if it was an ash of war i'd be surprised because he literally goes from sprinting into sliding towards an enemy into attacking it.

it might be an ash of war, but i surely haven't used it yet, so if anyone knows which one it is please do say so, because that's a pretty good one as far as i could tell from what i saw.

nope, i know what quickstep looks like, so unless there's several animations for that particular ashes of war, then its something different.

if i could describe the animation; its like the guy is running right, and he uses his momentum to do a sort of crouch-slide towards an enemy then hitting it as the slide ends, the slide length is about the same as the roll.

That sounds like a skill / ashe of war.

Some weapons, not all weapons, have unique attacks to the class or to the actual weapon when dashing, after rolling, after backstep (neutral roll button) most weapons have some sort of forward thrust attack, and also a crouching "wake-up" attack. Some heavy spear/halber type of weapons do a bit of a dash before making a pierce attack.

Sometimes is a combination of above, you use a skill and then some normal attacks get modified weapons attack, for example, Godfrey's axe, that transform the heavy attack into a slow dash/berserk attack.

Curved swords heavy attack charges can be cancelled with a flip and a lounge attack.

I am a retired lord, but I never knew I could slide attack ...

Could be Quickstep, it has iFrames and forward looks sort of like a slide. Wide stance holding a large weapon would probably look more slide like. Sprint and Quickstep is probably what you saw.

If you haven't tried Quickstep, it's in the WarMaster shack or make a Bandit real quick, 2h the dagger or put away Buckler. It's actually pretty fun.

hmm, ye might be some sprinting heavy on a weapon or something, but ive never seen that before my best guess is maybe the quickstep ash of war into an attack or bloodhound step into an attack
