In my experience shields weren't very useful due to her ability to attack quickly, so I would grab a second weapon and learn to dodge. Simply running away from her is often more effective than rolling, such as when she does her leaping area of effect attack.
I've actually put Bloodhound Step on my whip... It's doing me alright so far. ;)
Gets me well out of range of that big red/black splashy thing she does.
Yeah, that sounds good.
I've used my Mimic a few times but I don't really care for it.
I find myself using my Banished Knights, or Headless Knight, or even Stormhawk Deenh more often than my Mimic.
I also like the Nightmaiden + Swordstress Puppets.
It was sloppy as heck and I got caught by Alecto's GRAB'n'STAB three times... and I used all nine of my health flasks...
But I managed to defeat Alecto in a straight-up fight without getting her stuck or cheesing her (I think? Maybe someone thinks something I did was cheesy!)
Apologies if the video isn't buttery silky smooth!

Maybe that split second of Bloodhound Step does not have any iframes?
I dunno!
Problem for me was that I was always slightly emboldened when I landed a hit on her. She seems to have no Poise at all.
So I figured if I could get a quick attack on her, I would interrupt her next attack.
So I kept pushing my luck and trying to test my speed against her's. But she was faster than me most of the time. So I took a lot of hits.
