Comet Azur—what am I missing?
So I heard all about how that spell is one of the best, and so I leveled my Int to 60, hunted down Terra Magica to lay down before blasting away, and the Cerulean Hidden Tear to boot, and... I can't even one-shot one of those weasely little arseholes that hang out all around Farum Greatbridge.

What am I doing wrong???

the enemy needs to be relatively stationary, you want the physick flask for infinite fp, and you want the helmet/talismans to boost the dmg

I just got it on my 2nd toon I am 157ish with like 29 mind so it is low. But my staff is at +9 the one from renalla trade in for remembrance.

It is a pretty sweet spell I think if you really built around it. It would be a broken OP cast

They move out of the way. You have to make sure they are distracted by something. Also, hold the R1/spell cast button. It continues until you are out of mana. Before casting it, drink a flask of wonderous rat poison that gives you unlimited mana for a brief amount of time after drinking (nullifies all fp costs of spells or whatever). That will just about double or triple the amount of time you can cast it.

There is also a sword that has a skill that fires this spell aswell as a fire incantation. May want to look for it.

Ah, I see. Distract, hold down, and melt. That makes sense.

if you want spells like that, id recommend sorceress sellen's quest line, it should net you the gear you need/will want and you already have what you need to start it

Ah, yes, Sellen. Will tackle that!

you are... holding down the spell button right?

No, I wasn't! Daft, I know, but I had no idea that's what you do. Hence my question whether I'm missing something. :steamfacepalm:

It's a channeled beamcannon. It doesnt deal huge damage in one hit, but over time and requires the target to be stationary or moving in a straight line towards/away from you.
Shiroe (cortana) Apr 5, 2022 @ 5:14pm
well hold down the button
you also want other talismans and gear... obviously

Thanks, all! That helps tremendously, lol!

Also they seem to have nerfed it's damage somewhat because I followed a guide off YouTube, got all of the same items he had, and I don't do quite as much damage as him even to the same enemies. Don't get me wrong it still hits like a runaway black hole but not as much as was shown in the video. It did funny things to Astel when I had someone hold his attention. And it WRECKed Rennala.

most of the guides are using outdated patches. They nerfed royal arms which gave your spells a 80% damage increase which made that lazer destroy anything. Lusat + stonedigger staff in offhand with sorc damage, magic damage, charge damage talismans.

The problem with this spell, and the int/faith sword that shoots the same beam, is that if you are slightly higher or lower than the enemy you are trying to shoot, it will not hit them. You have to be on the exact same plane to hit them.

Well, I just melted Loretta with it and I think I'm getting the idea.
