a little disappointed with the post-game dialogue
Nothing changes. I was hoping at least Hewg would be glad i killed a flipping GOD. Or ranni would have something else to say when i literally made her the most powerful being in the universe.
Instead it just puts you right back where you were with no changes.

Does anyone know they're talking to the elden lord after you beat the game? (not in new game+ yet)

It was the journey alone the way that mattered.

NPCs are perma-set into the changed world after you beat Maliketh (burning the Erdtree), and before beating Elden Beast.
DkS2 was like this as well, and iirc DkS3 too.

quite a good journey. but still. so many were counting on you, rooting for you. would be nice to get that closure.
Pandemic. I'm genuinely surprised they got as much done as they did when they did it.

I know what you mean, this has just become painfully predictable of FS at this point.. They do this far too often and now, it may as well be a common trope of their games.

Postgame isn't even canon it seems. It's just there to let you clean up your playthrough before NG+. We never get to see the world after our ending. I'm not sure they would have added that content in even with infinite time and resources. For some of the endings you'd have to significantly alter the entire landscape of the Lands Between.

The ending is lame, but I can forgive not getting the full aftermath of the story.

yeah the undertaking is a little much to actually re-craft the worlds. but a few voice lines wouldnt be hard.

the ending was lame though. didnt even touch ranni's hand!!

??
Hewg wasn't making a weapon to kill a god, he was making a weapon to kill the Goddess he loves on her behalf.

he references killing a god many times.
"Use my masterpiece to slay a god. That is all that I have lived for."
"What use have I for freedom now? I smith weapons to slay a god. I have lived, and will die, doing so, upon this spot.
Is there any other way?"
"As I've always said. You came to challenge the demigods, and their god. To slay them.
And as long as you do, I will always smith your weapons.
It is what I wish. To smith a weapon for you to slay a god."

Post game isn't meant to be played really and the game just assumes you're perpetually stuck at the end. But who knows it might change with the DLC. Seems to be quite ambitious of them with all the Melina hints something they haven't done before in previous games.
