Anyone think jump attacks are a little strong?
I was killing some claymen when i noticed the damage numbers between my jump attack heavy and full charged heavy are within 20 points of each other (676 and 694.) But the jump attack is much faster and seems to deal about the same poise damage too. Are there times where the charge heavy is preferable?

Note. I am not asking for jump attacks to be nerfed, I think they are fine. But they do seem much better than charged heavies and maybe those charged attacks could be buffed in some way?

depends on the weapon. Some charge attacks have lunge or have multiple hits, combos etc.

charged heavies contribute more to stance breaks; on slower weapons and ESPECIALLY colossals jump r2 is way more convenient for sure though

Junp attacks have way too high of a damage, needs nerf.

Power stanced colossal sword jump L1 is nutty. Faster, more damage, and comparable staggering power to doing charged R2's.

Jump itself can dodge a lot of attacks, making it an even better option if being faster and more damage wasn't already enough. Plus there's a dedicated talisman to jump attack damage.

considering how fun they are to use they should stay as far away from a nerf as possible; very satisfying to have a universal heavy that is slightly less powerful but far more applicable than charged r2's which are normally a neon sign for enemies to please hit you. They come out fast, but take a significant amount of time to recover from, and are appropriately rewarding to high-profile low-sweeping moves or shockwaves

also wearing raptor cloak, and the tali, adds even more jump dmg punishment..

charged heavy is to squeeze out that extra bit on an unaware enemy, or a posture broken enemy you don't want to critical, or when a boss does a move with a long downtime. Some weapons have special moves with them, and they can be super strong on horseback due to the persistent hitbox. They have their roles... but yes, for most heavy weapons especially the jump attack will see far more use as a 'default' attack option.

I havent used Charge attacks much so perhaps its my lack of experience.. but they feel critically weak. Much slower then a jump attack. Does about the same damage. AI rarely reacts to a jump attack. Jumps can avoid some attack swings so potential for evasion while attacking.

Jump attacks just seem much better in every way.

There's also an armor that gives +10% damage to jump attacks.

there's a risk doing it. you're vulnerable mid-air
roll -> 2H R2
less risky but less damage

i just wish i could see that stagger meter

but you can jump over enemy's attack to land a jump attack. but only if they aren't doing an overhand swing yea.

you can also dismount the horse to get a jump attack

Actually if you can clone that ash of war which increase one hit damage, apply it on both weapons (offhand weapon first, then main hand weapon) and then jump attack. :)

2k damage too strong

But the 10 seconds of doing nothing between attacks bc every other colossus animation is too slow - perfectly fine.

Don't listen to these ragers - play how you want; they're just jealous.

They're especially strong in PVE as enemies can't time their moves well enough to anti-air a perfectly spaced and timed jump attack. They always start their attack too late. This isn't a huge problem for bosses as they can just poise right through it and punish the long recovery.

One mayor disadvantage of the Jump Attack that someone has already mentioned is how vulnerable you are while in the air. More specifically, getting hit while in the air does a lot of damage to you, and will often knock you into the ground leaving you in a supine position that lasts a few seconds. In this position, you have zero invincibility frames thus giving a halfway persistent opponent a free opportunity to kill you.

It's a minor risk, but it's still there.

Honestly while I like them in concept they do feel a bit...polarizing when they build stance break almost as well as charge attacks.

They also cause regular stagger more consistently and faster than 2 R1 swings depending on the enemy and can deal solid damage to boot.

I dunno, it sometimes just feels like Fromsoft didn't fully realize what they were going for with the whole stance break system, especially with how some enemies have insane poise and very little endlag on their attacks/combos.

they are pretty strong yeah, but also very much needed in some situations since i feel its the only thing that can get past some input reading responses (besides backdash>attack combo)
