Do classes REALLY matter in games like this?
I was thinking, and I know I screwed up my wretch REAL badly so I'm going to make a new one, but I digress.

My real question is- Do classes really matter in games like this when you can turn any class into another up to and including getting ALL the gear said class starts with?

This is one of the reasons I love starting as a deprived/wretch/whatever you call it in other RPG's. They are a clean slate. A blank canvas.

Gameplay is the same for all classes, just getting the gear or abilities might take a little longer.

I can see if all classes have one unique ability of their own to set them apart, but from what I see, classes don't really matter.

And I know I'm going to be insulted, called a loser (which I admit to being) and worse, I just wanted to get this out after all these years of playing RPG's.

No. The starting class is sort of a blank slate with a a couple of weapons/skills/armor to get you started with your perferred playstyle. At a certain point you can respec and enjoy it however you like. You build your character as you progress and your gear defines what you're playing more so than the stats, the stats are there to allow you to use certain gear and funnel you to certain playstyles. Once you're deeper in the game the differences become more obvious albeit still vaguely simmilar.

Depends on if you want to min/max or not.

Only matters is the early equipment advantage. I used the one with Griffiths prison armor and the magic helped a lot in the beginning then I just transitioned into something different. Oh yeah never forget the fashion souls. I wanted that Samurai armor.

there's even respec so it doesn't really matter unless you wanna optimize for pvp meta level

classes doesnt matter.
stats matter

Only matters if you want to optimize your build. Wretch is grade A min max material, since he starts at level 1 with all stats at base level 10.
Class only matters early game. Not anymore mid game for obvious reason. You can always invest points and upgrades to suit your preference.

No
The starting class basically just a character with mix of attribute points.
You can adjust the attributes on your own to match your style

This. It's all about the min/maxing. If you want to try different styles on one character and respec a lot, wretch is the best because of it's 10s. But if you have a certain build in mind, you can squeeze out more of certain classes. That's why I always go for wretch in my first playthrough for the flexibility. Afterwards it depends on what builds I want to play.

You can get the gear of all the classes from vendors or as loot in different places. They only difference is the starting stats, and even that will become meaningless over time unless you for some reason decide to stop leveling.

Can speak to you with experience on this matter from most all the ds style games.
They 'DO NOT' matter at all 100% Here are some absolute facts that can not be argued.
-Classes are for newer players, as every one places stats in a unnecessary place for any specific build.
-Classes pretty much just exist so you can start the game at X level with X equip to get X progress without any effort. Really all this is for since you do yes 'get everything in game' regardless.
-Every game run can net you a max of 11 tears, that is 11 whole resets entirely. PPl take this for granted, but there is no reason to do so. I've literally only used one in almost 200 hours now, and it was only to move 2 points because I had a good idea for my build early, and it worked.

So there ya go. Gl hf
