ELDEN RING
3 putrid crystallines might be worst boss in souls history
I know people hate Malenia, and if levelled up it would be easier to deal with as I'd have the damage to kill them, but my GOD at RL40 this fight is... well no impossible as I've almost done it a couple times, but mind boggling tedious and luck based.

Who on earth thought it was a good idea to have 3 of these enemies together, but not only that have them in a small arena, but not only that, have it so they all constantly walk at you, even the ranged one, and not only that have the melee one non stop attack.

Like... I honestly don't know what to do except leave and level, the normal gank squad strat would be lure them apart to kill 1 at a time, but you can't do that here, the arena is to small and they constantly group together, so at best you can get maybe 1 attack in, but then you are running into the RNG of the undodgeable barrage the mage puts out.

I honestly think this is the worst fight they've ever put in a game, not because it's the "hardest" to beat, but because the only strat is over-level for it, if you try to go into this early and beat it you will be relying entirely on luck and grinding for a while. Such as for some reason the mage in the ones where I did well decided to not walk at me non stop... but recently he just constantly walks at me while I try to kite the spear jumper away so they are always grouped up.

I just can't even with this terrible boss design, did they realise they had to much ground to cover so just hired interns to design some of them? The only thing that makes me think not is an intern would do a better job, they probably got this idea from a reddit page about boss ideas and randomly chose them without checking for downvotes.

All that proves really is how much luck there is in this fight, as I spent ages trying to separate them as thats the normal tactic for group fights like this, and every time the mage walked in and the ring guy span in.

Ye if you get a lucky fight where they don't keep together it becomes a lot easier, and being higher level would help tank the hits when they do, but it's definitely not a good arena for 3 enemies that constantly try and move together.
I mean, you can clearly see that they don't move together at all. The caster barely moves (and it makes sense, being a caster) while the ring-armed one only moves when you're at a certain range and spams the shurikens or whatever they are when at a distance.

I suppose you can rationalize it however you like.
I do agree it's a bad boss anyway. I don't think the duo-trio model works well with this kind of game at all.
I tried it today at level 57 (magician, dual cold/mogical +14 katanas)
Jump attacks are hard to pull because of the lancer.
I confirm they were also moving together in my runs ! The caster is in the center of the room, but then he follows the other guys.
Failed 5 attempts and didn't insist further (not in the mood for a gank of rotted robots).

First time I did them, I had a higher level (90 perhaps ? I found the cave much later for a side quest), I had a shield and I was playing counters to break stances.

So, depending on the build/level, it may indeed feel cancerous.

Don't know what game you're playing, but if they did that I'd be so so happy, however in the game I'm playing the mage walks at you and use huge AOE attacks a lot, and the ring guy spins into the middle of combat constantly.

Thank god I've done it now, I know I was making it harder doing it at RL40 but the whole point of a Soulsian game is that you can beat it at sl1 if you are good enough, and my god without mega cheese I can't see anybody doing it with these 3 guys, they are designed to break all the rules of a gank squad boss.

My post a few above yours that would have saved you a ton of trouble.

Actually very easy boss. Get weapon art Flame of Redmanes, available basically at start of game, near very start of Caelid region just a little south of its entrance from an invisible pathing scarab.

This weapon art is an AoE heavy poise damage effect and will usually poise break staggering most bosses in 2-3 casts. Use it, riposte the boss in face/back as necessary while iframing through the other bosses. Rinse and repeat. The mage one, in particular, is just very weak to backstab and you can pretty easily avoid her damage while doing all this.

I do suggest using a high crit weapon like Misericorde (best one in the game for crits) or at least a rapier/dagger.

Definitely not a level issue. Found it easy at SL1. You just need the right tactic.

Indeed, thank you, I overlooked your post.
Tested now, it was much moire easier. The attack spreads wide, and can caught multiple crystalliens. stance break after 2 casts.
So Flame of Redmanes is definitely the best strategy so far for any build.

In my first playthough, I think not only I was using shield+counters, but also "impaling trust" which allowed me to quickely close the distance with them while dealing poise damage. That's why it felt easier back then.
Solo'd first try at level 80. GitGud.
Jump attack worked for me

You realise we are talking about RL40 right? so yes you beat a boss easily that you were over-levelled for... good job? want a cookie for that achievement?
well 2 of them are easy to space and kite. You really just have to rush down the mage and spam heavy attacks to break it. Once the mage is down the other 2 are a pushover.
a) either use the appropriate damage type (which turns all of these enemies into smush)
b) break their posture, which can be done with pretty much every damage-type aslong as you do some poise-damage

that's why i think it's actualy on the better side of franchise fights, either you got the skill or you used your knowledge
with the omgqueen it's a bit different, and while i never took any of the "nerf this boss" topics serious, looking at how it was all early game content (yes even Rada is a joke compared to what comes later), i understand why people got issues with her.
doesn't mean i think she's a bad boss by any means, but similiar to vanilla Friede it's on the wrong side of the fine line between frustration and challenge.
I enjoy fighting these. Each with their own special skill, it takes a good strategy, getting them apart, and taking out the caster first. The charge in and big hit becomes my go to. However, I found a nice spell that helps as well. Black fire ball.

Katana works too, this boss is not hard. you have to break their posture. no need for strike weapons, spirits, or summons; just R1.

"laughs in crystalline pokey waifu"

R1 TWO HANDED. you bounce 1H.

this has nothing to do with being "hard" or "git gud". this fight is just plain annoying and anti-fun. it seems designed like that on purpose, too.
Summon a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spirit and 2-hand your weapon until one of them cracks...
You can do whatever you want after that, they have 0 poise and everything interrupts them.

ALL crystalines work like this.

What absolute nonsense is this? You can kill them in about 3-4 hits with a strike weapon.
What were you doing? Fighting with slash? A couple hits and they go into the cracked state and they have such low Hp that even hitting them with a dagger at that point will chunk off like 4-5 inches of HP.

GET. GOOD.
