Irina's Letter
I have Irina's letter and have went to the spot, where her father is supposed to be, but he isn't there? Did I break the quest by defeating the boss first before looking for him? I have tried to restart the game like some said worked, but nothing happens. He is just gone??

This is one of the things I was dreading after my experiences in Skyrim and oh god Prey. Just random ♥♥♥♥ breaking.

All I can do is confirm 100% that doing something outside the quest relation can break the quest. Not only did I complete the quest 100%, and did everything right, but regardless out of nowhere the girl just 'ended up dead' upon one of the following 'required' visits.

There was no warning or logic to it at all.

Her dying absolutely makes sense, and it's literally explained in the questline lol. It's supposed to happen. Don't know why you'd think every quest in this game has a happy ending.

Well, seeing as this is how the quest goes if you do everything correctly I can understand that that happened :))). The quest continues with her father .

That said, Irina's dad is up his tower or he is at the spot where Irina is, haven't had him break on me in 5 playthroughs now. I did the quest after killing the end boss in my first playthrough where I also had already killed the boss of Castle Morne, and even then nothing broke on me with the quest - required quite a few reloads of the area this way, though.

Possible having to re-load is a bug, and where many go wrong?
Personally even if that blanked out part is true, and pretty sure it is, that in no way completed the quest AFTER going back, and speaking to the father. He just repeated the same 'i'm hopeless' bs over, and over till I got sick of it, and killed him.

I did try leaving, and returning on several occasions prior to that though, so that's null n void less a bug I think. Either way it's a bs broken quest imp

I also beat the boss before finding him, but had no problem completing the quest so I don't think that is what caused whatever issue you are experiencing unless that is a bug with the new patch.

Again, it's not broken at all. You're apparently just not really capable of wrapping your head around the fact that the outcome is what it is when you do things correctly lmao.

I just did this too. You can talk to him, even after beating the keeps boss. He is sitting on a bench on one of the tower like areas. You just need to talk to him, exit to menu, go back and talk again, then he will say he is going to find his daughter.

The re-load is because he will just repeat the same thing over and over, waiting for the trigger for the next part of the quest.

No, having to reload is not a bug, it's just how the system works and it was that way in older Souls games as well. If an NPC gives you a line of dialogue to find a sword and you have the sword he is looking for already, for example, you will have to reload so you get the new line of dialogue to give him the sword.

At least I do not think it's a bug. Just a byproduct of the somewhat clunky quest design and you doing the single quest steps 'out of the intended order'.

That said, most if not all quests do have some kind of point of no return where, when you kill boss A or change the world by killing boss B, the quests are no longer available. That's just how quests in these games work.

You were at the right spot? Did you "accidentally" kill him? Doing a boss wont make him disappear, did the bosses in Limgrave and the boss in the castle first too.

It seems like the quest has been bugging out for a few people after one of the patches. You used to be able to find and talk to her father after beating the boss

Thank you all for the tips, I will try them one by one and see if it helps!

I found the father last night after beating the boss a few days ago. One of the ladders you have to take to get to the tower can be easy to miss, though. I missed it several times before I found it.
