Super long launch times?
Assuming its becouse of the EAC. Same with ark. Takes 10 - 15 minutes for game to start. Couple seconds white, then 10 minutes black and it eventually starts running and goes into main menu. Plenty of crashes, doubled since last patch when they used to be once per hour :/

Anyone else having long start up? Would't mind the crashes if it would launch normally within 10s or so.

Hmh, guess im the only one :(

10-15 minutes is not EAC. Something is wrong on your end. Try reinstalling the entire game if verifying integrity does not fix it. If that is not it you have something more complex going on. EAC does take a moment, maybe 10-20 seconds but geez 10+ minutes?

got no idea what it could be. Not a single other game does the same besides ark and elden ring. Tried installing on old hdd aswell and same issue there. It helped abit when i disabled nvidia geforce overlay so it took like 5 mins off the time. Taking off steam overlay had no effect.

I've got it installed on a non ssd and it takes like less than a minute, with eac. Something definitely wrong on your end.

Is there a bug report/tech support thing so you can let the devs know?

my god I finally found a thread for this. I've had a similar issue since launch day...

90-120 seconds minimum from initial launch to Press Any Button screen every time on a Samsung 980 Pro. Completely flawless* experience everywhere else @ 4k max settings; no crashes, 5-10 second load times between travel points once in game.

tried verifying integrity, reinstalling altogether, updated drivers/firmware, etc., but no dice.

PC Specs:
AMD 5600X
RTX 3080
Samsung 980 Pro 1TB @ 50% capacity
32GB 3200Mhz @ CL 14
MSI x570 MEG ACE

man I'm tempted to do the same if they don't fix by the next patch. I think the recent patch made some stuff worse for me too.

are you using a controller? it seems like my computer is having the most trouble with joy.cpl which is the old Windows Game Controllers program.

aye using xbox one controller. The darn game crashes if the cable even gets loose lol.

How long has your computer had without a hard restart? Mine does that if I keep it on for weeks at a time.

The same when game is set offline?
zumocano Mar 24, 2022 @ 2:15pm
I personally restart/update often (almost daily) and do have it set to play offline. I've tried with and without controllers, with Steam Input enabled/disabled, etc. I'm currently trying to uninstall Xbox Game Bar but might have gone out of order by uninstalling the Xbox app before.

Going down the joy.cpl rabbit hole, I've found a couple threads about other device drivers/services like Thrustmaster causing this type of issue. I've disabled the Thrustmaster FAST service I have installed, but still experiencing same problem.

welp I should have done the ole "disconnect everything" bit first... looks like the problem was caused by my monitor's USB hub.

disconnected it and both joy.cpl and Elden Ring launch immediately without any problems. reconnected it and the problem starts again

thats.. thats insane reason for to be fix. I dont have usb hubs so idunno what might fix it for me

I agree but super happy to have figured it out. I would suggest disconnecting everything from the computer except maybe the mouse to launch the game and see what you get.

also if you want to try bypassing the EAC, go to your game directory and make backups of eldenring.exe and start_protected_game.exe. Then rename the copy of eldenring.exe to start_protected_game.exe and it will skip EAC when you launch.
