Yes and the vigor reduction comes from an item. You can get rid of it (it's also a consumable) and be done with the vigor reduction.

Just use the Blessing you get and your hp recovers instantly

He had a similar accident with my twinblade too. Saddest thing was that he slipped and fell in the middle of his monologue, never managed to finish his sentence.
