So they said they nerfed Sword of Night and Fire?
It was a pretty minor nerf overall, it seems. That thing still wrecks pretty good.

As of Patch 1.03, Sword of Night and Flame's Comet Azur and Flame skills appear to have been nerfed by -30% and -22.2% respectively.

Looks like someone else figured it out. That is a bigger amount than I thought.

Anyone else feel they didn't nerf something as much as feared?

I'm using the Spellblade set which boosts it's damage a bit, 50/50 INT/FTH with a +5 SoNaF and it still does ok damage. The giant outside the Secluded Cell I usually use to test weapons dies in 3 hits instead of 2. Damage reduction was probably between 15% - 25% on the R1 skill. Not sure about the R2 one yet. I need to play with it more. The big nerf was the reduction of how far the R1 beam shoots. Now you got more risk for less reward. Bosses already punish you for long animations so this may be the one that really makes the sword not useful anymore. We'll see. I'm going to keep using it for now since I don't have another larval tear to respec lol

the frost stomp is now sadly really bad, a normal hit does more damage now lol slightly overdone, could have left the damage as is and just add the "cooldown".

Thing is both attacks from the sword are meant to be melee-based. The range on the beam was way too high to give you any risk. The main issue I had with the sword is the fire having quite a long cast animation.. the beam is great though even with the nerf.

There's really no denying that the sword's attacks were way too powerful for what they are.

The frost stomp isn't part of the discussion here, but to quickly quell this, you literally just said exactly what the stomp should be. It shouldn't be doing more damage than a normal hit. It's a conal aoe with frost buildup and stagger damage. The entire point is to use it to stagger your opponent then hit them. That's why they increased the cast time as well so you actually combo it together with something else rather than just spamming away at the stomp.

They raised FP costs considerably, but I don't think it hurts things less.

You mean the massive AoE cone of damage that is meant too cleave multiple targets and builds up Frostbite is less effective in single target then actual swinging the ax at them how terrible.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Seems like less than that in practice, but I don't doubt people.

Carian Filigree Talisman is basically required to reduce the FP costs of the skills. R1 is 20 FP with it. R2 is 26 FP.
