The swamp dragon at the start is the easiest one to actually fight, tho.
Thanks! I’ll go back to the dragons Ive found and see if either are one of those and retry the fight. Much appreciated.
They're extremely dumb and pretty much all function the same. It's trivial to find a rock to stand on / behind and then just pelt them with arrows to the head until they die.
But yeah it seems to be a common early game thing for new characters now, acquire a bleed weapon I.E the flail and then rush to the giant dying dragon in Caelid, then bleed it to death by hitting its tail. Lots of souls, and a dragon heart, for basically five minutes of work.
There's a portal behind a church in Limgrave you can take to Caelid. Then it's just a couple minute ride on the mount to the dragon.
If you're a melee user like myself: bleed and rot are both good status effects to kill dragons - both will severely hurt it once it procs. The dragon has several attacks you just need to avoid by jumping on Torrent: a sweeping breath attack, an overhead swoop raining down whatever-they-breathe and one where it barfs right on the ground in front of it (this will hit 360 degrees around the dragon, so don't bother staying when it does this). Other attacks are easily avoided like the tail sweep, stomp or divebomb.
Run at their legs immediately the first chance you get, and start hacking at their right one - the left one is used during a stomp attack. Just repeat until it is dead. The only times you take damage during these fights is when you are too late realizing what attack they are performing because the camera won't let you see it.
Excellent advice and strategy. I’m melee warrior and only ranged to try and pull when thinning out a pack. I never thought to use torrent as early on I hated horse combat so forgot about it. Might be good practice for me using your tips. Interesting on the left foot, i get stomped on but never noticed was always the same one. Thanks for the info.
Oh yeah. F that camera in fights like these.
Oh yeah forgot about that one.. even tho I found it like an hour ago. Was thinking about my own trip through the teleport chest.
Turns out I’d been to this spot before but when I got close to that dragon screamed and some small dragons appeared so I kept riding.
Didn’t know he was sleepy. This time I just chipped at his tail and killed him, no extras. Got the heart and 74k. Thanks everyone for bringing this guy up. I’ll go level with the runes and attempt an actual dragon fight using the tips from here.
