Stormveil castle wind knights
Any tips for making melee fights with these guys any easier?
Specifically the two of them after the church area with the NPC. The first one has a torch carrier following him.
Yes i know - git gud.

https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Misericorde Get this dagger and upgrade it. It does a ton of backstab damage.
Also git gud. Those knights are scary.
The best way I deal with them is to sneak up with a backstab and then use a dragon breath attack but you probably dont have that yet.

Nowadays what I've heard more and more from the avid Dark Souls fans I have among my friends is that "don't bother -- run past them. That's what I always do" seems to be a preferred tactic of long-time players.

Basically some mobs just aren't worth the effort, and just running past them seems to be the better choice.

unless they drop something and/or give a lot of runes, yes, just run past them.

Otherwise, they're just a hindrance to exploration, if you're 100% certain that theres nothing left to discover in the area you can ignore them and go to the next place.

Those guys have the same moveset than the Knights in Demon's Souls and the Silver/Black Nights from Dark Souls (with a few new attacks of course), there is one effective way to deal with them since back in the day:

Parry+Riposte.

Thanks for the advice all ill continue to avoid them.
They are the only real enemy thats giving me big greif.
I only managed to kill the dark trap room one by backing out the door and it felt cheap n dirty.

Guard Counter is really good for those guys, so i recommend it.

If you dont know, basically you block their attacks and follow up immediately after with a Heavy Attack, it will do a sorta counter to them, with enough hits you will break their stance and allowing a riposte

Jump, heavy attack, repeat. This works for the vast majority of heavy humanoid enemies in the game.

I always found the dark souls knights very easy since i strafed easily to backstab.
Ill try improve shield parry.

I am playing with mages, so I am mostly cheesing them with magic, but storm assault ashes of war seemed pretty effective when I was trying it against them even when I wasn't focused melee character. It is overrall nice one with some AoE and nice amount of stagger and can be started from semi safe distances due to its attack range.

These guys are a headache. I've found the best is to backstab them, then back up and let them do their uninterruptable aoe attack. Dodge rolling their swings in close doesnt seem to work since the final stab is a meaty and seems to be timed perfectly to a medium armor build roll delay and has long enough reach that a full backward roll will still get hit.

Jumping heavy is great to stagger them, but watch out because they can do their aoe as soon as you start your jump in and they wont be stopped from getting 2 or more hits on you. If they start winding up a slash, that's a great time for a jump in.

If you can bait the first aoe, and get to a decent distance, they will likely do their rush attack follow up, which is very easy to dodge and opens them up to being hit a couple times before going back to neutral.

Have you tried a colossal weapon? You can stagger lock the knights rather easily.
