Did I mess up Ranni's quest?
I've not met her ever since getting the summoning bell from her and I'm all the way to the capital, killed Radahnn.

I've always hated the fromsoft quest structure but in such a massive game as this it feels especially bad.

Radahnn doesn't spawn unless you begin Ranni's quest I thought? So didnt you simply just innitiate the next step after killing him, or somethin else?

I had this happen where I couldn't find her, after I killed Radahn she appeared for me at her tower at Renna's Rise. NW Liurnia of the Lakes.

The not telling you or pointing you down a predetermined path every five seconds is the thing I like about these games. Leaves you new things to randomly find on following later plays. That said sometimes they could build in some more hints to show where to go or let you know that something might be important.

For Ranni's quest not sure if that screwed it up or not but if she stills offers to let you help her its prob fine. Would prob just start the quest where you go to the fallin star i would assume.

like the quest structures are obtuse but its basically not handholding you & trusting you to work things out : /

I think it's fine on principle and ok for some quests to be like that, but easily missing something like this in a game that is so massive you basically would need a notebook to keep track of things. I don't see how that is fine. Maybe if you think it's to justify replaying, but frankly that's not what I'm eager to do.

I can´t think of anything that should break her quest, but check her location and see if she´s still there and want to talk.
Most quests I´ve encountered in this game does not break until very late in the game or are mutually exclusive, unlike older games where looking the wrong way broke quests forever.

The problem is some simple things that lock whole zones behind them are easy to miss. I get sick of handholding in games but things like major quests or whole zones shouldnt be hidden so much. fancy gears, weapons, or upgrades can be super hidden but not whole areas or quests.
Like Ranni could totally be missed or quest possibly messed up depending on your path, but its one of the more intresting quests in game so far,,,so coulda been slightly more guided. I got lucky and wandered into her tower before doing the caelid area. Didnt meet her earlier on..dont know where that happens.

That's good to hear. I would still advocate for a questlog of somesort. ex. after talking to her you have a note in your menu telling she's in Liurnia, maybe not even mentioning the tower. I don't see how that would constitute some massive handholding

I havent been able to find her all game. Including in her spire, that was accessible (unlike her sisters) but empty. Does she definately spawn there after beating Radahn?

i killed radahn before finding her tower. Basically i cleared caelid / dragonbarrow before going to liurnia of the lakes. Ranni was in her tower. afaik the only thing that makes her leave is if you attack one of her followers.

Ranni's quest isn't the only trigger for night time at Radahn's castle. In my first playthrough, the only time I talked to Ranni was when I got the bell. In my 3rd playthrough I never talked to her. There's another trigger for it.

I think it has something to do with going to Altus Plateau. It wouldn't turn night at Radahn's castle, so I went and did Milicent's quest line all the way to windmill village. Went back to the castle and it was night time. The only detour I made along the way was I did Old Altus tunnels on the way to the town where you get the prosthetic for Millicent. I didn't even finish the boss in that town.

Altus is not the trigger. I did Radahn before entering Altus through any route. I did not even enter any of the potential side routes or get the second medallion for the Dectus lift until after I defeated Radahn.

Then go play Horizon if you needed your hand held.

For me she didnt show up at all untill after I did Rogier's quests and beat Radahn after that.
Then after that I could do the related dialogue in her tower.

I already did Altus and pretty much everything non-story related before that point.
