You have to cast it as soon as you get in the room. Don't move forward. The Warrior will use his bow attack and Margit will never move as long as you don't engage him.
I found this out by accident. The bow guy is so op. He was hitting Margit for 61. Took maybe 7 minutes.
P.S. I got the item from Patches but I didn't know how it worked.
Or the twin maiden husks at the hub. I offed patches, then gave his item to the husks and now they sell his stuff. I haven't even seen the boss yet, I found a roundabout way to just go around Stormveil castle and skip the boss fights. :D
People complaining about Margit can literally just go around him and play on...
