Which weapon do you prefer?
I'm using the Long Sword, and I wanna know what other people use as their weapon. The reason is because I see a lot of people with great swords and curved great swords, and I was thinking about switching to them.

Just pick some constraints that fit with your build, then use whatever weapons that fit them, and are fun.

Like for me it's ..

!: scales with intelligence
2: Aren't slow, because my character doesn't have much poise

Some good go to options for that are stuff like the Wing of Astel curved sword, or Moonveil katana. But because of ashes of war and magic/cold infusions, I can really use a lot of other weapons. Like spears, straight swords, thrusting swords, whips, curved swords, twinblades, etc.

If I added one more constraint..

3: Can pvp with it.

That might limit my options a lot more because of my character's low poise, but there should still be some things I can use.

started with 2 curve swords switched to 2 great curve swords but I dont like it so switching back, I like the 2 jump atatck enhancers and jump attacks with GCS just don´t work as good

Character 1: Claymore
Character 2: MoonVeil

Character 1: INT/DEX character, had a lot of fun with the Death Rite Bird's geatsword that creates dark flame explosions.

Character 2: FAI/STR character, presently enjoying A LOT the halo scythe. The ash of war can melt enemies from quite far away and the weapon itself does solid damage. Plus, it looks good.

Most fun in both playthroughs: any longsword with upward slash. I just love the way they fly when hit.

Claymore, the tried and true GOAT. Flame arts infusion with Flaming Strike art of war. L2 into R2 for massive damage and stagger, buffs your weapons damage for a short while afterwards too. Great for clearing multiple enemies, good damage on large targets when you see an opening.

Great spears are fun in this game, one of my characters powerstanced the Tree Spear with Siluria's Tree/Vyke's War spear. Staggers enemies so easily, does tons of damage plus you can equip the spear talisman for massive counter damage. Running L1 is extremely effective and damaging. Slap some decent incantations on the side to compliment the points you put into faith and go to town.

Dual greatswords are good too, i spent the majority of my first playthrough powerstancing Gargoyle's Black Blade with a Claymore until i could switch it out for later boss weapons.

I finished the first playthrough using Bloodhound's Fang while its Ash of War is very OP, now in NG+ I using three play styles, early game using Seal using Fire Giant and Bestial Incantations , later building a melee mage using Lusat staff and Carian Slicer sorcery such as a straight sword. Now I am using a two Scavenger's Curved Sword with bleed and frostbite effect. It is a lot of fun in Elden Ring to test the various of build style.

I've used the Bloodhound Fang for most of the game so far (just entered Leyndell). Good damage and you can get it early on, causes bleed and Bloodhound Finesse/Step is awesome. Destroyed Margit and Godrick with it.

I'll switch to the Ringed Finger when I need strike damage.

If I'm fighting NPCs I switch to my dual Bloody Scimitars. They also shred through certain bosses, like the Godskin Noble.

Royal GreatSword, I like it's special since some mini bosses and side bosses it'll cancel their attack if you time it right, then the follow through roars them on their asses giving you another heavy or two and it's a bit of a mobility so been able to actually fully avoid attacks triggering it and doing damage. Been usful against bosses also.
Feel bad about having to kill big boy though can't say didn't see that coming though.

Bloodhound fang: Fun curved greatsword with some mobility special and the blood accumulation.

Uchi and Nagi both bleed weapons set up with frost so int scaling added. Made some fights so much less stressful in some cases.

And Carian and the gravity staff for when just feel like blasting before stepping in.

Int/Vig/End with secondary Str/dex/Mind

So been mostly enjoying the Int scaling weapons and some of them are fun.

omen cleaver (not to be mistaken for the omen killer axe)
it has damage it has decent speed it has a kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ R2 but who uses R2 right?
Sabaithal 29 MAR 2022 a las 5:14 p. m.
For just straight swords on a quality build, the only two good weapons are the Longsword (better scaling when upgraded higher) and the Lordsworn straight sword (higher base damage, better at lower levels).

The rest highly depends on if you invest in FAI or INT, or both. As a FAI knight I got the coded straight sword, amazing weapon for FAI btw.
