Like for me it's ..
!: scales with intelligence
2: Aren't slow, because my character doesn't have much poise
Some good go to options for that are stuff like the Wing of Astel curved sword, or Moonveil katana. But because of ashes of war and magic/cold infusions, I can really use a lot of other weapons. Like spears, straight swords, thrusting swords, whips, curved swords, twinblades, etc.
If I added one more constraint..
3: Can pvp with it.
That might limit my options a lot more because of my character's low poise, but there should still be some things I can use.
Character 2: MoonVeil
Character 2: FAI/STR character, presently enjoying A LOT the halo scythe. The ash of war can melt enemies from quite far away and the weapon itself does solid damage. Plus, it looks good.
Most fun in both playthroughs: any longsword with upward slash. I just love the way they fly when hit.
Great spears are fun in this game, one of my characters powerstanced the Tree Spear with Siluria's Tree/Vyke's War spear. Staggers enemies so easily, does tons of damage plus you can equip the spear talisman for massive counter damage. Running L1 is extremely effective and damaging. Slap some decent incantations on the side to compliment the points you put into faith and go to town.
Dual greatswords are good too, i spent the majority of my first playthrough powerstancing Gargoyle's Black Blade with a Claymore until i could switch it out for later boss weapons.
I'll switch to the Ringed Finger when I need strike damage.
If I'm fighting NPCs I switch to my dual Bloody Scimitars. They also shred through certain bosses, like the Godskin Noble.
Feel bad about having to kill big boy though can't say didn't see that coming though.
Bloodhound fang: Fun curved greatsword with some mobility special and the blood accumulation.
Uchi and Nagi both bleed weapons set up with frost so int scaling added. Made some fights so much less stressful in some cases.
And Carian and the gravity staff for when just feel like blasting before stepping in.
Int/Vig/End with secondary Str/dex/Mind
So been mostly enjoying the Int scaling weapons and some of them are fun.
it has damage it has decent speed it has a kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ R2 but who uses R2 right?
The rest highly depends on if you invest in FAI or INT, or both. As a FAI knight I got the coded straight sword, amazing weapon for FAI btw.
