Elden ring Bosses vs Dark Souls 3 bosses
Personally i feel like Dark souls 3 had better boss designs than in Elden ring (yes im making another discussion as i feel like the bosses in Elden ring are kinda ♥♥♥♥)

Gank fights like the demons from below and pain (from Dark souls 3) are actually fun duo fights, but the Duo fights in elden ring just want to make me pull my scalp out

In Elden ring i feel is making the same mistakes as Dark Souls 2, adding unnecessary boss fights and way too many reskins for the sake of filling up the Open world genre. Example would be the magma wyrm.

In dark souls 3, the bosses had actual combos that would pause and allow you to hit back, but i felt like in elden ring, i felt like the speed of most bosses was increased for the sake of being "harder" rather than proper design.

Comparing Pontiff sulyvhan's (Dark souls 3) and The Grafted Scion (elden ring)

(I using these bosses as examples because they remind both feel similar). To me these 2 bosses are the difference between a great boss design and a boss design for the sake of difficulty.

Don't forget, that usually most memorable bosses are in DLCs. In DS3 main game i really liked Pontiff, Abyss Watchers, Dancer, Soul of Cinder, Champion Gundyr, and Nameless King (6, but maybe i forgot someone). Here i have Malenia, Mogh, Godfrey, Radagon/Elden Beast, Renalla, Maliketh, Plasidusax, Radahn, Rikard. Its 9 vs 6 already, and even if we include DLC from DS3 we can add Friede, Twin Demons, Midir and Gael and it will be 10 vs 9. Imaging if we will get DLCs for Elden Ring and what bosses could wait for us there.

Have yet to fight Godskin Duo but I'm fighting Valiant Gargoyles right now and honestly people really be complaining about this fight just because they're bad at it. The most I can say about the fight is the poison is annoying + hard to see, that's it. The rest of the fight is perfectly fine and honestly really fun.

The gargoyles are a bit different because for some reason they decided to actually design that fight. You rarely have to fight both bosses at the same time. One will generally chill and spit poison while the other attacks in melee.

Most of the gank fights are just gank fights. They put multiple bosses in a room and called it a day.

True, though the gank fights I've played thus far still haven't been so bad if you play passively and pick your shots (That being said I know some people don't like playing like that)

Overall the bosses in dark souls 3 was better. I am genuinely bored by the end of Elden ring with the repeat bosses and if you're playing the game for 100 hours and only encountered a few main design bosses then yeah I'm really bored. Also can't talk about bosses without mentioning the soundtrack that accompanies them Dark souls 3 had better soundtrack and very memorable. I still listen to it years later but for Elden ring? I doubt I'll come back to it.

Have to totally agree. I still enjoy elden ring and it's a great game, but DS3 just feels better and more breathing room. As you said about boss soundtracks. DS3 nailed them, so good as I even have listened DS3 OST few times after playing that game +500 hours. I really can't even remember mostly any soundtracks from Elden Ring bosses..

Yeah the exploring is probably the best it has ever been from this series. Just really annoyed that any cool area you find is a repeat boss by the end. Only thing that kept me going is the items that I had fun reading by the end.

Yeah they really dropped the ball on the soundtrack. Actually it was the same in Sekiro not a lot of memorable ones either but I just justified that they must have been new to the japan feel(Weird to say since they're Japanese lol I know) but Elden ring pretty much solidified my suspicion. Looks like they're running out of juice on their music.

It feels like the bosses are playing Bloodborne, but the player is still playing Dark Souls. I don't even know why they included colossal weapons when it's clear the developers don't want you to use them. Heck, even the claymore feels too slow at times.
yeah and this resort to people using faster weapons.

I loved the majority bosses in ds3 and it was my favourite FS game before but some of the new attack patterns in Elden Ring seem much more fun and challenging than the ones in ds3. (margit, morgott, moegh, malenia so far)
In DS3 almost every attack comes out fast, which looking back to it makes it a bit onedimensional and after you dodge you can land a few hits.
In Elden Ring the attacks can be a mixture of fast and slow holding/charged up attacks and you have to assess whether to strike after a combo or right inbetween. The multi boss design like in DS2 is quite bad though so no fighting that

If they would just bring ds3 servers back... i would drop this game immediately.
Like this is such nothing game. It feels like it's just bloated with bs for the sake of having something in otherwise empty places.
Open world isn't even how i'd describe this game. More like... kinda big map with all the good ♥♥♥♥ being underground.
THIS
For me personally (some) bosses are quite hard when you play full Dark Soul style. I always played a full greatsword strength build. It was nicely balanced for both PVP and PVE without ever needing any buffs. In Elden Ring I could play that style as well besides 2 bosses:

- Malenia (being too slow trying to hit her)
- Bell Bearing Hunter (1 version that had a poise of 0ver 9000 and a stagger of over 9000).

I found a fix for both bosses tho:

- Malenia (temporary switch build to a ranged faith/pyro build to beat her ass ez mode with fully flame buffed 3 hits on both her phases, staggering her to death basicly, fight took 3 seconds each phase)
- Bell Bearing Hunter: stay to you strength build. However craft yourself that super poise potion so you won't get staggered and take nearly 0 damage. Mix that with the flash giving stamina regen + Damage to HP and that boss will become a joke. R1 R1 R1 till it's death.

So yeah basicly this game forces you to use cheese mechanics that have been added to Elden Ring and weren't in all other Souls games. Gladly I only needed it for 2 bosses. All else I can still stick to 0 buff pure strength build.

Alternatively, hide behind a good greatshield and poke them to death with a poison pike. Works every time for me.

ds3 does have stronger bosses, but many of its early bosses are a bit underwhelming. like the first truly excellent boss fight is abyss watchers. to compare, margit is much more engaging and interesting of a character compared to vordt, but his fight suffers from the usual ER problem of excessive combos and roll traps. so imo DS3's best bosses far surpass the vast majority of ER's fights, but DS3 takes much longer to get interesting. it's also worth remembering that the Gael, one of the most renowned fights in the series, was a DLC boss

You were clearly either overleveled, or using some janky mage/rot breath or other OP meta build to find that cancerous boss fight in any way "fun". For most melee players, one valiant gargoyle alone was annoying enough with the poison spam and occasional tornadoes disorientation slam, but adding a second one half way through was pure hell. I personally only completed it with a cooperator. Even with strike dmg (+14 mace at the time), my dps was far too low to take out the first one before it became a gank battle.
