you looking for a reliable tanky summon char? knight engvall.

luthell is good, but she teles around and can cause the boss to aggro to you more often than not.

Engvall without question. Solely because he tanks damage like no other summon aside from maybe mimics tear and Oleg.

Better question would be between Oleg or Engvall, because I honestly don't know that one.

Oleg and Engvall are both banished knights. Both are quite tanky, take the same amount of FP to summon, and look very similar.

The main difference is Oleg has twin greatswords, where as Engvall has a big halberd. I'm pretty sure Oleg does more overall DPS, but there has to be some advantage to using Engvall, or he wouldn't cost the same amount of FP...

ah ok, Engvall is extremely early game, maybe its the fact on how early you can get him gives him his worth rather than the more DPS on a summon later in the game(however I dont actually know where oleg is so maybe not)

I just use Oleg. He's the man, tanks almost anything and does decent dps. I haven't leveled or used Engvall yet.
mimic is stil the best, followed by the alburnoric girl

Oleg is in the starting grave area that requires 2 stone swords to unlock. However you have to kill a rather tough boss to get him so...

Headless Luthel. Easily the best.

Depends on the boss. Saw headless get his/her ♥♥♥♥ kicked in by a misbegotten warrior, the thing was too aggressive for them to bear it.

all other summons are equal levels of complete garbage. that good enough for you?

people sleep on oleg. he is the best spirit for most of the game especially early on. use his twin to defeat the boss that guards him early. oleg is better than luthel and better than his twin aswell due to beeing super aggresive.

that add that the commander boss at castle sol summons with the twin greatswords. that is him. and he is just as cancer as that add was. now imagine haveing that thing at gamestart. hell solo most bosses for you.

luthel and kristoff are more tanky but are also way less aggresive and thus often lose emity on enemies. for example when luthel phases in and out the boss will go after you again.

oleg is extremely close to them in terms of tankyness. he only gets outclassed on lategame bosses. given how early you can access him he is no doubt the best spirit ash there.

on my 2nd playtrough new character i used spirit ashes alot as i ignored them entirely my first run to not make the game too easy for me. i can tell you right now of the beat oleg makes the ENTIRE early game a joke. its stupid easy to beat with him. just be careful on super fast bosses like red DOG.

again, not what I asked, you have a "cant even beat a boss unless you summon two people and let them do all the work" vibe ,,, why even comment on here if you have 0 input on the question
