luthell is good, but she teles around and can cause the boss to aggro to you more often than not.
Better question would be between Oleg or Engvall, because I honestly don't know that one.
The main difference is Oleg has twin greatswords, where as Engvall has a big halberd. I'm pretty sure Oleg does more overall DPS, but there has to be some advantage to using Engvall, or he wouldn't cost the same amount of FP...
that add that the commander boss at castle sol summons with the twin greatswords. that is him. and he is just as cancer as that add was. now imagine haveing that thing at gamestart. hell solo most bosses for you.
luthel and kristoff are more tanky but are also way less aggresive and thus often lose emity on enemies. for example when luthel phases in and out the boss will go after you again.
oleg is extremely close to them in terms of tankyness. he only gets outclassed on lategame bosses. given how early you can access him he is no doubt the best spirit ash there.
on my 2nd playtrough new character i used spirit ashes alot as i ignored them entirely my first run to not make the game too easy for me. i can tell you right now of the beat oleg makes the ENTIRE early game a joke. its stupid easy to beat with him. just be careful on super fast bosses like red DOG.
