Anaglyph 3D?
Hi Everybody- I just wanted to ask if anyone knows for sure, if Retrowave is actually made for 3D? I'm talking old ANAGLYPH (red/blue) 3D. I got curious as I was playing it, as the graphical style is very definately CRT based. But the odd colouring prompted me to dig out an old pair of red/blue glasses. Sometimes it seems to work, and other times not. There is no mention of 3D capability in the settings in game. So, does anyone know for sure?

Was just wondering the same thing, but I don't have any of those glasses.

Well alfs, it seems to be some sort of 3D format, but unclear. Glad it isn't just me.
I think it is just chromatic aberration that sometimes lines up enough to make a 3D effect through coincidence.

OK Somali. Could be just that, true.

no .... it is an attempt to emulate the photon spread of a phosphor screen. AKA a TV. hence the tv border. all you little potatoes don't realize that the Hort and Vert of a phosphor based television screen from the 80's and 90's never lined up perfectly.... well sometimes, but not at my house. Games all looked like that.

Little potatoes? Haha. Thanks for the insights. I remember the Cathode ray tube TVs very well. Made a terrific bang when you put them in a waste compactor (one of my teen jobs - and no, don't do that, horribly dangerous)

What? No it isn't, that is NEVER what a real television looked like.
Source: Grew up in the 80s, still own a few proper picture tubes for old video games. (one NTSC and one SVGA within touching distance as I type this.)

I came here looking to ask if there was a way to turn off the chromatic aberration. But I guess there isn't. I hate chromatic aberration, and I turn it off in every game (except this one which doesn't let you).

And I agree with the previous poster. It is not meant to simulate a CRT. CRT TVs never looked like that (unless they were broken, maybe). Sometimes if the reception wasn't good, you'd get a ghost image slightly offset from the real image, but it didn't look like what videogames today call "chromatic aberration".

And why is the bottom of this videogame trying to simulate VHS tape mis-tracking? That looks like crap too.

Thanks MentalCase, I have a pair too. And you are right, it does!

I have red/blue and green/red glasses. The green/red ones definitely produce a nicer 3d effect in the game for me.
