After the awfulness that was Mass Effect 3's ending, this is like a nice buttery, salty popcorn with a drink watching a fun movie for a couple of hours. Sure, it's not life changing, but it's a great time.
You're right, there were some bad parts of the trilogy too. I thought the good parts of Andromeda were the graphics for sure, but I'd say in my opinion 90% of the quests were fetch quests. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. The facial animations were insane, and the dialogue choices didn't make any sense at all, and it just felt really childish to me.
I'm glad you liked it but I didn't have a good experience with it.
Wait few days for Legendary if you think ME1 is like a PS2 game or just mod it, Legendary it's the best way if you want discover the best of Mass Effect games
. The quest design leans *heavily* into MMO style fetch quests, and it is *so* boring just traveling back and forth between all the planets for small side quests, spending ages in loading screens for little payoff. This is the worst part of the game: It's built around intentional padding that isn't fun, reminiscent of Ubisoft's style.
. The story and themes are poorly thought out. I'm really surprised the writers never stopped and asked themselves basic questions about colonialism before assuming this made any sense.
I still had fun because I'm a bit of a fangirl with the property. I still liked the characters (mostly) and enjoys seeing them through the journey. I also think it's considerably better than the first Mass Effect.
Two of the three tie-in novels -- fangirl, hello -- are really great, too (Jemisin and Valente) and expand the game in great ways. (The other tie-in is atrocious.)
Are you implying space colonialism is bad? I hope you realize open borders and illegal migration is a form colonialism. I’d bet you think this is super cool. LOL
