Sonic '06 When?

Never got to play '06 back in the day, but almost everyone knows the infamous game.
I'd love to see a re-release both fixed to run correctly as well as the option to play the original.

There's actually a fan remake in the works that already looks and plays better than the original called "Project 06". It's not done yet but all of Sonic and Shadows levels can be played through.

Sega has all but disowned 2006 with Silver being the only element from it to be kept canon so I doubt we're ever going to see a cleaned up modern port.

The fan efforts that are floating around to remake it in a function state are going to be as close as it gets

A port with all the bugs and glitches fixed would be nice, but sadly I don't think Sega wants that game back in the public conscious. I have always wanted to finish though but I just couldn't put up with the game for any longer.

I have always said that the only problem with the '06 game is that it doesn't function mechanically. So a re-release was always possible if they took what they had and spent the actual needed time to bring it up to what the games mechanics was supposed to be. Including the power-ups mentioned in the instruction manual that were never implemented. The story was very good and it is a shame that Blaze and Silver don't get to be at the center of more Sonic games

Also I have been following project 06 recently as well! ^^ Hope this gets to be a game everyone will love because of these guys putting in the work Sega should have done themselves years ago

I dunno if it helps but Sonic 06 is available digitally for original Xbox 360 consoles (not backwards compatible) for very cheap nowadays, and Xbox 360 consoles should be fairly cheap now too. It's in fact so cheap that you can basically grind for points on Bing and get it for free in like a few months by redeeming Xbox store money from Microsoft Rewards.
...You could also emulate on PC using Xenia as well (you just need to press F4 every so often when graphics go funky), with Sonic '06 Mod Manager that lets you add mods or fix bugs of your choosing. Or you can wait for Project 06.

I guess the closest thing to what you want that exists right now is "playing the fan remaster Project 2006", alongside "an emulated version with Sonic '06 Mod Manager".

'06 isn't a game that would be easy to fix. The game's content is present, but the actual state most of it's in is VERY rough - to the point where the jumping physics are in a very incomplete state internally. I doubt Sega would be willing to finish the PC port. Project '06 also takes a LOT of liberties compared to the devs' intentions, for better or worse (better, mostly). The best way to play the original at the moment is to dump an Xbox 360 disc (or download now that Sega relisted it earlier this year) and emulate it through Xenia.

If Sonic Team re-release Sonic 06 I can only imagine them making the game worse. Can anyone imagine a worse version of Sonic 06, even though the original game is already bad.

Sonic Colors Ultimate (I know Sonic Team didn't make it)
Sonic Origins
Sonic The Hedgehog (GBA)

They are all inferior compared to the original version or previous version.

What they should do is allow Sonic P-06 to become the official remake, then he can sell it on Steam and we can buy it. Plus Sega would make money.


As for the original Sonic 06 I got it for the PS3 and here is what I think. That is the only game I have ever sold due to not liking it. It is the only game I sold before completing it, that is how bad I found it.
