That said how long is this game? I felt like it should be around 2-10 hours long.
I seriously want to buy the game but the R18 patch is making me doubt whether I should buy it now or not.
And it's better to have the 18+ patch officially on another store than not have it. We should all know and remember when these patches didn't even exist, and ppl had to buy the ♥♥♥ edition, extract the content from it and create a hack patch to place that content on english/Steam edition.
Prior to that, we didn't even have english translation and had to play the game without understanding anything.
Now we have original creators create their games split on all-ages and 18+, all fully translated and officially supported. That's awesome and we should support it! Also remember that when we have both full edition and all-ages + 18+ patch edition, the full game edition's price is higher than the all-ages edition's, so it's not like they are removing content and charging the same price.
In this came specifically, it's not even the case of a patch that add removed content. It seems it's a full game with no 18+ content and then some epilogue.
That being said, yes the game is expensive for the amount of content it has.
That wouldn't be fair to those who wishes to play the game without adult content.
Steam was always inconsistent about 18+ patch and yes Ne no Kami even has loli like Protagonist.
I already finished the R18 scenario, can't really say it's bad/good. because I wasn't really a fan of R18 stuff.
Overall it's like 30-1 hour length.
Not much to be added considering the base game price and length.
Steam allowed adult patch for any game for a very short time (2 or 3 months really). Not anymore, not if any of the characters look like under 18 (even if they are above and that's mentioned in the game) or if the story happens at school. In that case, the developer/publisher can't mention the patch either. That's why some people mention the patch and add the link to it on their review.
I think that's stupid and basically Valve's solution because they don't want to deal with and improve Steam. I believe everyone should be required to prove their age when creating an account and that the store should be divided by an age system. If you are 10 you only see games appropriate to your age. When you turn 12, another part to the store unlocks. Another part unclocks when you turn 14; 16; 18. That way adult content should be blocked to any account under 18 until they turn that age.
Then again it wouldn't be even as simple as it sounds.
Because some country prohibit pornography, my country for example Indonesia will block anything that has it.
That actually could've include YouTube, Twitter etc.
Pixiv and Vimeo were actually blocked in past but after rants they actually unblocked it.
Netflix is similar where they actually blocked access for it because the R18 content and still blocked and currently undergoing discrimination over it.
So Steam having it and not getting banned yet is quite amazing, they did said about targeting steam in future but that was like years ago I even forgot when it was in order to block steam for some R18 game.
In the end It also falls to Country Laws.
So in order for that Age features to work, It requires to follow
1. Country Laws
2. Age/ID verification that actually done from other country.
It would be problematic if they had to do it manually, either developer/Publisher of respective game or Steam.
It won't be easy, because there's no Big Platform so far (Windows store, Epic, GOG, Nintendo store) that accept R18 game aside from steam.
Valve are quite ♥♥♥♥♥♥ likely after the report of some child character as AO content in Steam.
They even had to go so far rejecting mostly Anime games that came from not so known Publisher or those who have posted R18 games that has Child Like character with fanservice even if the game is actually an all age.
Sometimes it doesn't have it at all yet they still reject it.
For this game, Ironically there's quite censorship?
I am unclear but I am certain Ren is a highschool student at least according to her outfit and VNDB tag so they listed her as "College" in translation.
Similar method had to be done in some Senran Kagura character by removing their age number.
So even it does properly accept all AO, Game that has Childlike character even stated more than 18+ will likely banned without any further questions.
All the more reason for them to pick the safest route.
ALL the protagonists of adult VNs are in college all the time, even when they wear uniforms. Don't you find that weird? Just a small change to avoid issues
Meanwhile I have seen same ♥♥♥♥ through Bamco, SEGA etc anime games.
Steam probably banning it because their history MG in past.
Like I said they probably flag some publisher especially the game that going be released is a VN.
Well, it's not fair for the people who want to play ero-games to have to buy things outside too.
And let's be frank, the vast majority of people who plays games like these want to play the full game and not the kid's edition.
Main story of OshiRabu doesn't contain adult content, nothing was cut.
Indeed it is a shame that After-story DLC is being sold off Steam, but the devs just don't wanna take unnecessary risk.
Not while Steam still being an inconsistent banhammer wielder.
I'm not saying the devs should put the dlc here, I know the risks, but increase the price of the main game by the price of the dlc and just put it for free instead of making your customers have to do two purchases to get the full game. Nekonyan already does this and has been having much success.
