Yup...not enough fighting.
Please update the game with dungeon quests or something. I'm just sailing and trading. It's 7 hours and I feel like I'm still waiting for the game to start. The job system is so deep and rewarding, much moreso than the barebones trading game. It's a waste to make new players struggle like this to get to the meat of the game.

The few "dungeons" I have found have been one or two screen affairs with a few monsters and some randomly generated treasures buried next to a fossil. What happened to the dungeon design sense that made Voidspire? After Alvora, you said you weren't going to go randomly generated. I didn't take that to mean you weren't going to do anything at all!

There is something like dungeon quests. Guilds will sometimes give quests to clear a monster den. Otherwise there's the Arena in that town North of Runewald. You can fight there every few days. Additionally there's a location in the water in the North West that has lots of fighting. Scavenger Platform

Clearing monster dens and arenas ARE NOT ENOUGH. Voidspire had EXCELLENT dungeon design and best-in-class combat, and then Alvora had even BETTER combat. WHERE DID THAT GO

Overall i feel the same. The sailing and random quests is just trying not to fall asleep between the good parts.

The saIling is super slow and takes forever to get anywhere even with a fast ship. Rather than discovery the worldmap feels like a checklist.

Super slow checklist and a punishing chore. So if I DID happen to find a dungeon my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moral would make sure my party is weaker than they should be, because the boring sailing parts took too long??

Hey guys, I'm sorry the game hasn't lived up to Voidspire's dungeon diversity. It's true that dungeons are spread much further apart in Horizon's Gate - and it can be harder to find them based on your luck (which direction you happen to explore in).

There is almost as much dungeon content in HG as in VT, (including dungeons with multiple floors) but finding it can be a chore for people who don't enjoy the overworld exploration.

For what it's worth, after I finish controller support, I have plans to add a number of new dungeons for both early- and late-game parties.

Thanks for the feedback, and please feel free to refund if you aren't enjoying the experience.

This is my number one most anticipated game of 2020. Aside from the guy on RPGCodex, I promise you I've been the #1 Horizon's Gate stan...I wouldn't refund if I could. It's just that some aspects of the game feel a bit "early access" and I wish I could've seen what the game obviously has the potential to be.

Thanks, I appreciate that. : )

I did have to cut a lot of what I wanted to add to get the game released. Here's hoping I can add some of that in the future.

I agree with OP. Right now, whole game feels rather absurd: you train skills, unlock new classes, buy\craft\upgrade new equipment for... what exactly ? Fighting bunch of spiders once upon 2 hours of thorough map search ? I'm feeling myself constantly stupid with party-building, tbh.

Seriously, how about VT remake with new animations, equipment, races and (+/-) classes from AT/HG ?

A guaranteed Monster Den quest, with a random difficulty, every time you visit the guild would be nice. Maybe even add a new Dungeon Exploration quest that has a chance to appear in the guild.

I'd honestly love to have us find the Voidspire remains somewhere as its own island or gate. Most of the maps are already there, would be pretty cool to re-explore that portion of your series experience. I mean, some of the characters are still around- Jin sails around regularly and puts up a pretty nasty fight.

Sunless Sea would have been a good source of inspiration on how to make a boat game
Add more things to do in the ports themselves. Each settlement should offer something unique be it a questline or a jungle that is randomly generated each time

Bulk trading doesn't need to be the only type of trading either. In Sunless Sea ports tend to ask for one or two of a given object encouraging players to carry a variety of things in the ship hold

+++Ports need more to do, Id love the idea of a random wilderness connected to ports that changes every 7 days
Have I mentioned we need caravans and overworld land exploration XD?

C'mon people, the game is awessome, refund? Are you kinding me? I found plenty dungeons, this game have way more content than the previous two.

If you want combat, you can fight the sea creatures, some of them board on your ship, or you can board some sea creatures(not giving spoilers); You also can became a pirate and steal other ships, or fight the pirates themselfs, there is plenty of fight (not only naval fights).

He said he will add more dungeons, awessome, second run then, now you should be more considerate about how hard is to make a game, and he did made a big one.

There is people already giving moding a try, so if moding evolve, we migh see a realy big game in the future.

Cheers.

hm i don't know i think the game does a bit of both: Alvora Tactics and the Trading/Exploring Games. I also loved Alvora Tactics (to the point i 100%ed it) but with this game, there is a bit of fresh wind to the series. And to fight more, you could try to fight opposing Factions (attack their Ships and so on). Just an idea...
