HP Reverb G2 probably. When the released version is not worse than the pre-release version it should have the best visuals so far and is probably the best choice for any VR sim where you don't need pinpoint tracking accuracy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPsIlim57DQ

As far as I know there is no official compatibility for VR controllers but HOTAS will work

Best resolution: Reverb2
Best Refresh Rate: Index
Assuming Oculus Quest 2 has 90hz refresh rate available, it sits between the 2 above. Hard to recommend 72hz for a sim unless you are super resistant to motion sickness. This is only for answering the question of this post. Other games bring up more arguments for which is best.

As a side note, reverb 2 uses hovering speakers like the Index, IMO this is a huge pro for comfort and immersion as it is one less thing touching you.

The Quest 2 isn't guaranteed to be better just because the resolution became better. The Quest 1 already didn't use the max resolution natively, only after using Sidequest and actually tell the device to use 100%.

Thanks for the info, honestly don't care about Oculus cause of business practices and was just giving info based of provided specs. Personally have an Index, but if I didn't, I would be debating between Reverb2 and Index for this game.

Especially with the now forced FB account you have to ceate/use, I will stay away from any Oculus device. I also have the Index for more than 1 year now and I'm happy with it. The info about the Quest inner life are not first hand but being in a VR community helps me a lot where the strenghs and weaknesses of the headsets are. Another weakness of the upcoming Quest 2 is the IPD adjustment. It only has 3 different positions and you have to hope one of them fits while the Index and G2 for example don't have such fixed positions.

"Facebook will retire its Oculus Rift S next year and the original Quest supply is already sold out in many places, so the Quest 2 will soon be the only option for Oculus headset buyers". wow FB really knows how to fk sh*t up!
"Oculus Quest 2 will be the first VR headset to require a Facebook account instead of a discrete Oculus account". Fkkkkk that!!!! =/

Valve Index it is!

Resolution isn't everything. I have an odyssey plus and index. Being tied to the windows mixed reality portal sucks bad. It can crash, bug out, messes with controller binding, and you cannot change some buttons. Index is the gamer's headset. Get one and upgrade to the next index when it comes out.

i'd say go for the Rift S as long as it's still available. it's cheap, it has a decent resolution, good colors and very easy and accessible built in tracking system so no need to place those annoying tracking sensors around your play area.

higher resolutions headsets honestly don't look that much better to justify the price,
not much of a difference and it depends if your system can run it.

Slight mistake there, all Oculus Headsets require facebook now on purchase. And exisitng Headsets must switch over by 2022 or have service ended.

Rift S requires a facebook account.
So? what's the big deal? i hate Facebook myself but just like most of us, i already owned a Facebook account for years, i only use it for the messenger but how hard can it be? it's much easier to setup a facebook account with a few pictures of your dog than setup your bedroom for the tracking sensors.

While i agree Facebook have no place in this industry, right now, Oculus made the best headsets for the money and they're dirt cheap. other headsets do not offer anything else other than a small resolution boost and are still very expensive for no good reason.

Who knows, but I won't be making a facebook account especially after the specifically made a public statement saying Oculus will never require a facebook account. After this happend press asked a facebook representive if then back down on this promise if that would mean facebook would start running adds in the VR, and they replied back. Oculus does not currently run ads. So you go enjoy your cheap VR that you help pay for by selling your bodies metric data, your personal information, and watching a ♥♥♥♥ ton of ads.
