*edit* looks like it will require an origin account to sign in in game but will not launch the origin client
While I do agree that Steam is the better product, I pre-purchased through Origin because I'm under the impression you have to login through it even if it is purchased through Steam.
I can't confirm or deny this. Just reinforcing the comment made by Team Triss.
Does not look like it.
If you compare the Battlefield V store page with the Squadrons one, you seem to need an EA account, but not the client for squadrons. Now this could be a mistake in the squadrons store page.

Apex Legends seem to work the same, EA Account, but no need for the EA Client on top of the steam Client. Which is imo a good deal. So I am 90% sure that no origin is needed for Squadrons. Time to buy again EA games. Took them long enough. ;-)

SteamVR support.
I'll be playing in VR ergo I want to make sure it's all configured correctly to work with my Index.
Also it is not sure if the VR mode will work when you buy it on Origin. Only Steam VR has been confirmed to work as far as I know
