In order to make GTA IV: The Complete Edition perfectly playable in 2020, I thoroughly revamped and updated my step-by-step guide.

Much better to downgrade to 1.0.8.0 and get multiplayer back. You can backport the achievements as well.

That's certainly true for people who want to play multiplayer - I 100% agree!

However, if you only want to play GTA IV's singleplayer and EFLC, version 1.2.0.43 is arguably as good as 1.0.8.0 and downgrading is unnecessary.

It won't work for me :( When i click on play on steam to launch the game, the rockstar game launcher open up but won't do nothing. After that on steam the game stop and nothing happen. Am I the only one ? :'(

Have you launched the game once before installing the modifications? Otherwise, Steam and RGL haven't installed and detected the game properly. That's the only reason I can think of.

Maybe doing a clean install of the game first would work. So uninstall the game, and delete the game's directory.

Did not helped at all, but thanks for the efforts. In 2018 game worked almost flawlessly and FPS was around 50-60 on my PC, but after that sh*tty "upgrade" i just got a drops to literally 0 frames every 5 seconds.

That's a strange problem. I never heard about such extreme frame drops...

Have you completely uninstalled GTA IV and deleted all the remaining files in the installation directory before reinstalling? Maybe you have some leftover files that cause problems.

Herro, a couple of us (https://steamcommunity.com/app/12210/discussions/0/4462460605164058765/) are having trouble saving the game, getting the error message:
"Save failed. Please check your storage device and try again."
I get this error after playing the game for the first time and also after reinstalling, plus I'm using no mods.

Would any of your fixes help us save? After reading through the guide I'm guessing no, but I ask just in case.

(Edit: Oh, that link's flagged as malicious, but it's the "Can't Save" thread on General Discussions.)

I don't know if the Fusion Fix will help with that problem - I don't think so.
Is the Rockstar Games Social Club working correctly ingame? Without beeing signed in, you can't save (at least that's what I noticed).
You could also try to disable cloud saving in RGSC.

I remember that I created Inbound and Outbound Rules in the Windows Firewall to block all of GTA IV's communication back in 2018. I created those rules because of some issues with GTA IV on my system. For example, I had a 1-minute black screen every time I started the game.

To be precise, I created rules for both "GTAIV.exe" (still in the main directory) and "gta4Browser.exe" (doesn't exist anymore in the Complete Edition). I did not create a rule for "PlayGTAIV.exe" because this exe didn't exist back then.

I honestly don't know if this is related to your issue in any way but maybe you could try to create both an Inbound and an Outbound Rule for GTAIV.exe.

Great guide but does anyone know of a mod to change the dull gray look to be more vibrant like V? like blue skys , water etc.

CryENB maybe, but i don't think that is compatible with the 1.2.0.43 version and only like 1.0.7.0 has the best support for it. Idk of any ENB's that work on 1.2.0.43. so if you want to use an ENB, you're gonna have to downgrade to patch 7, or search online for a ENB compatible with the latest version.
