i have nearly 1000 hours, i hate the game now
I don't want to waste time on not getting runs that work, dying over and over in zone one, or restarting endlessly because i cant get the ONE ascension i'd need for a build. All i want, is a mode where you earn no soul essence, but can choose any ascension at a goblet. Seems fair to me, i just can't stand playing the game for 2 hours, and never actually leaving the first zone, AFTER 900+ HOURS! I used to love this game and haven't played in months because there is literally no point in wasting my time to not have fun. i tried to play after all the updates, but didn't enjoy it for all the same reasons, please please please, just add a mode so we can test builds and have fun.

bro just play an easier mode or learn to play with what the game gives you, if you can't seem to get the one thing you need maybe try doing something else, or just skill issue

Curious that you tried to play after all the updates the game has, as you said. Because the majority of them has made the game even easier, so dying over and over should be even less of a problem for you compared to when you first started playing and loved the game.

Unless of course you're playing on any of the new higher difficulties, somehow without using any of the stuff that got buffed. Or without having learned how to deal with act 1 enemies with your 900+ hours of experience. In which case it's 100% your fault that the game still mysteriously kicks your ass.

I suggest lowering the difficulty. You'll find that you won't hate the game as much when you're not getting stomped by higher difficulties.

Homeboy's never heard of a roguelike/roguelite

A mode like this literally goes against the spirit of the genre. The only game I've ever seen do it is Risk of Rain 2, and even then, it seems like most high-tier players consider it 'cheating' in a sense, and I know that I personally don't find it as fun.

It's no fun being broken when you follow a formula to get there, time and time again. A delicacy ceases to be a delicacy when you can have it all the time.

I'm only at 160 hours, and just came back after a break from the game.
Beaten Reincarnation 8 many times, We've been trying 9, but the amount of straight up garbage weapons & even more so for scrolls bloating the pool, is just insane...
just play an easier mode, and an easier build

hi friends Jan 7, 2024 @ 6:46pm
ngl sandbox mode sounds fun for a some silly side mode. just trying that random build that you can't seem to get at all in normal runs. you can't do that by running lower difficulty

it goes against the spirit of roguelite yes, but who give a ♥♥♥♥ if its for your own enjoyment or have unlocked literally everything?

that's what I mean more, and for everyone telling me to play a lower difficulty, that defeats the purpose of seeing if a build COULD even be viable on a high difficulty, I've played long enough that the RNG isn't whats fun about the game anyone, the builds I enjoy, or the builds I'd want to test are what I enjoy, and when you functionally waste two hours in the first zone, just trying to get the ascensions you wanna test, it can be rage inducing,

The game is still fun, it still is great to play with friends, i just want a mode, where if I want to play a very specific run, its possible, even if that means I'd need to grind up soul essence in other difficulties. There are ways to balance the idea, maybe each ascension itself would cost soul essence, there is plenty of potential for what i want. However, to make sure everyone feels heard, just know I am about to do a reincarnation 1 run and vibe out to some music.

People responding 100% didn't read anything except the title. He isn't asking for a way to beat the game easier he's asking for a way to do what he wants the way he wants it even if there's no reward. Similar to Risk of Rain 2's artifact of command that lets you make your own broken build how you see fit he wants in this game. Maybe sometimes you want to do a poison build for cat but constantly fail to be offered the poison goblet. You get the idea

I have already written some ingame feedback to them that I think it would make sense to expand the talent tree to have an option to reroll ascension selection or banish options from appearing again. This would also require to adjust the missions from above partially but would produce more consistent runs. A sandbox mode would be fun as well agreed but it seems like they have their roadmap already laid out.

In the latest update, they added endless mode. So, if you really want to farm for a hyper-specific build, you can just keep looping until you get everything you need (and swap out ascensions, etc.). If you pick the bizarre dream looping, the enemy damage resistance will increase super slowly. You will have plenty of time to get the build you want. If you are really desperate for the right ascensions, just pick Ultimate Gambler spiritual ascension (the one that lets you refresh goblets). If you just keep dying regardless, play with a friend. If you are both still dying, then yall are simply bad at the game and need to git gud or play an easier difficulty.

Also, I refuse to believe you have 1000 hours in this game. Unless you only played the alpha or something. I have 250 hours in this game and at this point, it feels super easy. I can consistently beat reincarnation 9 (with one friend) every time, and it will feel easy the entire time.

I'm at 950 hours and can say that you have already played this game enough and it is okay to move on. I already feel like I have done every build possible and the only reason I started playing again was to try out the "season".

You can break Risk of Rain 2 without making any non-standard game-lobby choices. All you have to do is find the gate that takes you to the reliquary, plug in the code for the "enemies drop items on death" and AFK in the right spot.

You get literally infinite items.

So yeah.

That artifact is cheating.

It's called roguelike... that means its random as it can be. If you find it frustrating to be cursed by the RNG Gods then you gotta find something you enjoy. Sorry to say that but its that simple.

OP it's ok to stop playing a game and move on to something else... doesn't even have to be a videogame!
