Is there a way to disable the wave defense levels?

Wont lie they feel awful imo and are not the reason I like the game. If they were a side challenge than they don't just end your run.

Would prefer if they were a vault rather than a game-ending room. All those enemies that just b-line for the artifact, especially the ranged enemies, it can sometimes be hard to keep them off of it.
Though I haven't failed from one yet.

Agreed, I wouldn't mind if it was a vault and I haven't failed on one yet, but I don't like em.

Would be better if it took longer to blow up, and had a specific range, rather than the whole level, so you can get away from the explosion and live, or get through the portal and live.

i rather like that room, and its pretty rare to get. and imho pretty easy to finish

I'd like it more if the punishment for failing wasn't Death and not getting an Ascension.
Maybe have the artifact explosion reduce you to 1 HP and give you a Cursed Scroll but still let you open the Blue Chest.

I get one every run on normal in the very beginning dungeon/prison area. Can be tough at the beginning depending on scrolls and ascensions, but I clear it pretty easily now.

Then again, I'm still only at level 41 in normal, so...

It's real rough sometimes on nightmare if you don't have a decent weapon yet

These seem a lot tougher since the latest patch. That said, the group I play with has never failed any of these rooms, not even once -- and we're not breaking the game with crazy builds or anything -- so I don't think the challenge level is unreasonable? (That said, last night we did come really close to failing one, our cube had a sliver of health at the end! So these events can pose a good challenge in later stages, especially if you don't promptly deal with enemy snipers and such, as they will target the cube from a distance.)

my group almost always plays on nightmare and they almost always hit us in the desert. We have gotten use to just grouping and letting the game wipe us. It's a real shame because I love this game a ton.

I haven't seen one in a good 30 runs now though, so either they're really uncommon or I'm just super lucky. But my primary duo partner has such atrocious RNG we should be hitting it every time. XD

I agree that defense levels should be vaults and not main stages. On the lower areas there not that bad, but when i see the one on the third stage i die a little. My biggest grip is the punishment does not equal the reward. There needs to be a reward based on the percentage of the health. If the health is in the green you get a legendary scroll and so forth, and if it is destroyed you get a curses scroll. Also on this topic of rewards.

BUNS ARE NOT REWARDS GIVE ME SOMETHING USEFUL!!!!!!!!!!

I hate doing a challenge room or an elite vault and them all i get is buns (For the record I play elite and nightmare).
