Multiplayer shows, that there still ain't any jump animations either, so who cares about how it looks, as long as it's fun
I get the impression you think this is simpler than it really is. Do you think it's as easy as imagining the sword in your other hand but reversed? "Make it only stab" I see, so just splice one of the stabbing animations from the alt-fire and see if it works for a single animation, then modify it because the animation speed is not the same as the slicing animation, then only let this work for Ao Bai, because no other character can dual wield, and then...
Do you get where I'm going with this?
And if you're really hung up one the name dualwield and that's why you can't use it with just 1 weapon, just rename it to metal storm or something.
Seeing as picking up the Talisman. any sword or bow makes the dog's ability completely unusable and locks him out of 90% of his ascensions.
Having no talents for something doesn't mean, that it shouldn't be a thing whatsoever
Nearly if not all ascensions related to the dog's ability would work with swords. Hero-specific talents linked to weapons just suggest, that a specific weapon could/may be better for the hero, yet that doesn't ban you from using other weapons.
Just because the bird has ♥♥♥♥♥ for shotguns, doesn't mean that only shotguns are good on him, as an example. The game is literally based around experimenting with random weapons and builds, and making do with what you get.
Not only that, but it's genuinely kinda stupid for a dual-wielder to be able to wield two sniper rifles, yet not two swords.
