Sound is really bad

My sound is choppy and distorted. It comes and goes, is there any way I can fix this? Im running on windows 8

I'm getting the same problem.
My problem begins in the tutorial after using either slow mo options and firing the shotgun a couple of times. Suddenly the audio just starts breaking.

This fixed everything perfectly. Even though I'm on windows 8.1 it worked.

Hi, so I got Max Payne and have the same problem, but the link above is not valid anymore (almost 10 years old!) it goes to the forums' root....
Anyone knows the fix?
