Opening intro is gone
I used to get it upon launching the game but after having set the resolution to 1768 x 992 x 32 it made it that i only have to black lines and a white screen only before it goes to the screen to start the game. how do i fix on restoring it to get it back....

Try verifying the files first. Maybe the intro movie file is missing for whatever reason.

if it's missing, how can i get it back? I had it before i changed the resolution after that it disappeared usually it would play when launching the game before main menu. I have tried verifying files and that didn't resolve the issue. I have also tried re-installing the game.

Make sure the Max Payne game folder is completely deleted and then try to reinstall. On top of that, install Max Batch. Maybe that will fix it as well.

Start by simply searching Max Payne in your computer and see if any folders RELATED TO THE GAME ONLY doesn't exist.

Would that also include appdata too? As that tends to be a hidden away file.

No. The only folders that exist regarding the game should where you installed your Steam games and the save files in documents, but this one should be left untouched.

Go to where your Steam folder is installed, Steam Library > steampps > common > Max Payne and delete the folder. Once done, reinstall the game.

I did that it’s still missing and I wouldn’t exactly know what the missing intro movie file would be called… I’d probably have to ask if someone can provide me a copy of their files to see if it fixes the problem.

Before you had any issues, did you had any mods installed, use Max Batch for sound and mouse fix or widescreen fixes like this: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1633394421

Only had sound batch installed to fix sound issues but it was always working fine with that… what seems to have caused the movie intro to go missing is changing resolution 1768 x 922 x 32 and then when I booted the game a white screen square with black on the sides and you can here the music for the movie playing but then it crashed the game and an error came up and that’s when the issue started

I'm assuming you're playing at said resolution? Maybe that's the problem. What's your monitor make and model?

look in your registry (regedit) for a key called:
"[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Direct3D\Shims\EnableOverlays]"

if you see an entry for Max Payne there the looks like:
"C:\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Max Payne\\maxpayne.exe"=dword:00000001

you can remove that entry.
After that the white screen on the opening movie is back to normal.
