Max Payne cannot launch it!

i purchased Max Payne and Max Payne 2 with the festivity bundle.
soon as i tried to launch the game it never starts. i tried with the second and same stuff.
for some reason seems that the game had run for 4 hours so i cannot get refund. the only thing is i would like to play this game which i love. anyone has a tip to give me to solve the issue?

i'm having the same issue. i found that when starting the game it wont run,
steam shows that it runs by instead of START showing in the library, it says STOP,

The task manager doesn't show the game process being run until i force quit steam.

Make sure the game is not running in the background, if needed restart the pc to make sure then apply the fix.

drakje - I did a clean Max Payne install on my Win10 laptop, didn't start the game, installed your fix pack according to your directions (including making sure I didn't bury the fix one level too deep) and...nothing. I try and launch the game, my screen goes black, about 15 seconds goes by, and it goes back to the Steam page for the game. I try and launch again and it tells me MP is already running, but I have no visible sign of it (including no MP icon on the task bar at the bottom) Any ideas? Already did a restart on my PC.

yea i have an idea, somehow it crashes from the intro video it looks like.

end the game from taskmanager/details it should appear there if hanging in the background.

go in your steam library, right click the game and select properties. there you will find 'launch options' in there type -skipstartup then close the properties screen and try launching it again.

maybe that will do the trick (fingers crossed)

I have the same problem. It won't run but says it is running. I have to go to Task Manager, force it to quit then rerun it and then it loads just fine the second time. I have to do this every time I want start the game. It's annoying especially considering I have to do this with every other game from this time period.

I can't get it to even show in my Task Manager. I click Play, it looks like it's trying to start on Steam, never does, isn't on Task Manager yet the Stop button is still there in Steam. Sigh...

Can you try to force steam to quit instead (after running the game) since you can't appear to see Max Payne running in task manager? Restart steam and try again. Also give it a few minutes and try to see if you can see it in task manager.

Make sure you install this fixpack for MP1. Max Payne 2 runs just fine without any mods playable from start to finish

clean install > install patch

game dont open and dont show the icon in task manager too

Make sure the patch was installed in the right location, you should see d3d8.dll, dsound.dll and dinput.dll in your game directory. If they are tell me your specs.

amd ryzen 7 2700x
8gb ddr 4
ssd kingstom 120gb
rx 580 oc 8g

Are you getting jpeg errors? Since the game is not optimized for Ryzen cpu's

i cant confirm.. my game just dont open and dont show it in task manager either

Hi everyone! Ive played several hours of MP and now suddenly my game crashes like earlier mentioned after introvideo.

Nothing seems to work. Nothings changed in my laptop or anything related.

Any thoughts..?
