Jpeg Errors?

Hey I just got this game on steam. However, I can't play, because after I hit new game, I get a lot of Jpeg errors in the loading screen. I can click ok on all of them, the cinematic rolls, but in the second loading screen, after a few more jpeg errors I get one fatal one, and the game closes. I was just wondering if this was a common or known problem.

Same here, as usual, thieves are trying to redirect players to some non-Steam pages in order to steal accounts.

I'm not trying to steal anyone's account mate, all my files are on my personal drive, steam does not have a file repository. But if you insist you can do the hex-edit yourself and then do a compare of the checksum or byte for byte to check it out. I have a long standing reputation all the way back to 2007 for my fixes for this game, so please refrain from crying wolf when there is none. The wiki page is legit too by the way, only the startup patch won't fix the jpeg error.

Yes this is happening on many newer cpu's, basically the game does not recognize the cpu's capabilities right, they couldn't have known about 23 years ago. There is a small fix that just bypasses the check, that can be found in this topic.

this is the steam forum i used Jpeg Errors effect both newer AMD cpus as well as Intel as i have the same problem with a 12900 ks i went to this place and downloaded a modified dill file from google drive https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2421118667 and dropped in to max pains folder start up game and errors are gone
