Is this just a DOSBOX port?
Is this just a DOSBOX port with some remastered cut scenes?
Its not like there giving a lot away about the in game graphics, most of the adds are for cut scenes and not in game play.
Is this just Marketing half trueths?

Dude, there is a difference between the resolution of the assets and the zoom of the game.

I assume C&C uses sprites rather than scalable 3D models so if I zoom in on a sprite it it will look blocky where a 3D model all depends on the detail of the model. The more polygons the more detail, the more points to calculate and the slower frame rate.(not that C&C requires much of a frame rate)
If I am not seeing it then its either not there or youtube really sucks and compressed the video way too much.

I really would lke to see hi res in game graphics but almost every site I have visited talk exclusivly about the res of the cut scenes or the behind the scenes, or the remastered audio. The elephant in the room is the in game visuals.

Just don't have a lot of faith in EA.

Here are some screen captures at 1080p

Again, EA is publishing not developing it. They basically give the greenlight to another studio (Petroglyph Games) to work on the project. Petroglyph itself was founded by some of the key members of Westwood studios that created C&C in the first place.

So EA basically is paying the original creators of C&C to remaster their own game. I can't get any more clear about this aspect. This is why a lot of fans of the franchise are excited about this release.

I feel like it's Emulated, I have no idea...

You thought it looked funny, too, huh...

This is a remastering of the game. A full project to remaster visuals, fix bugs and mistakes, rerecord or remaster audio files, etc.

Telling us that it is, is one thing,
but showing us it is not is a totally different thing...

I can clearly see 4K written on the Description, but those Images shown
look nothing like 4K Pictures at all...

This is a full remaster of the game by the Original Devs. The same guys who made the game originally who now work at petelgryph studios

New unit textures, animations, new engine, remastered versions of the orginal music by the same genius Frank, using the original sources.

I'm unsure what they are doing with the cutscenes. I'm unsure if they just upscaled them or they were able to resource them from the original videos.

Of course they have spent more than a year on a dosbox skin... :steammocking:

Some of the original cutscenes have unfortunately been lost over the years.

People really should go here and read for themselves:

Turns out, I saw the video...

It's not 100% Remastered...

Most of the Game was Remastered in 4K, while the rest of it,
such as Cutscenes were not... Instead they were just up-scaled...

The Up-scales are the parts that look horrible, & the 4K parts are the
parts that look great...

Mind you? StarCraft 1 got the same treatment, but unlike StarCraft
C&C actually got up-scaled cut scenes, while StarCraft 1 had all of
it's Cut Scenes not touched at all...

So, I guess sorta in a way? C&C 1 got better treatment then Star Craft 1?
I guess?

What do you think?

The cutscenes were upscaled because they couldn't find the source files unfortuantly. Despite there best efforts. So they've spent quite a lot of time working on AI upscaling and getting the stuff right to upscale the cutscenes. However it will also have 4+ hours of raw b-footage and all of the console exclusive missions and cutscenes.

If you have functionning eyes you can see they have enhanced the graphisms in the trailer...

If you have functionning eardrums you can ear the difference...

4096 × 2160 (DCI 4K)

I guess I am just not seeing the 6.4 times improvement.

My functioning memory does not recall me writing anything about the audio

because they couldn't find the original videos from literally decades ago...

There is a whole video about it.

They ended up having to use AI scaling to enhanced the old cutscenes. They look pretty great considering the videos are like 300x400 pixels.

This gameplay video is in 4K. (It's an old video though, some of the textures and whatnot have changed)

If you're talking about the cutscenes look at the video I posted above.

You can't make 2000p wine out of 200p grapes, y'know... they did the best they could with what they had, but what they had was not much at all.

The fact they didn't recover the masters of the cutscenes was a a huge disappointment to the remaster team, but there was nothing that could be done about it. They already (on advice of the Community Council) used the Playstation versions of the cutscenes because those are in slightly higher quality than the PC versions, but it still wasn't much. Check out the video linked by Crafty to see how that all went down yourself instead of complaining about it.

DOS C&C is 320x200, actually.

Just for the curious... a comparison between DOS C&C and remaster graphics:

It won't run on DosBox. It actually uses Petroglyph's Glyph Engine to run.
