Which HD mod?
As of now I am aware of at least 3 big "HD mods"

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=720574899

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=575473515

and the XboX HD mod

https://gtaforums.com/topic/399016-iii-xbox-version-hd/

The Reborn seems to have the most of everything combined, but it's various parts are *very* outdated and it apparently needs some further fiddling too.

The second one seems to be focused mostly on the PS2 version.

And the third one is based on Xbox (self-explanatory) and it's apparently the full version (900MB) compared to the one in Reborn above which is outdated(199MB).

Which one would you recommend to play with?

If you want something in HD with a similar feel to the PS2 version: try Natural HD Textures mod (note: not all textures are remade in the Natural HD Textures mod) and The Hero's hi-res generic textures for roads.

If you want something in HD with a similar feel to the Xbox version: go for the Xbox Conversion HD mod (note: a couple of files are outdated and a few model patches breaks things; I *might* make an unofficial version to fix them when I have the time after beta testing/feedbacking another game I'm helping with and a mod pack for GTA III I'm trying to put together).

Thank you for the answer! I tried it all, including your suggestions but in the end went with this. It seems to be like Reborn, just more updated and extensive. So far so good. :)

Is there anyway to install the Xbox graphics of the game without downgrading to 1.0 and going through a bunch of other steps? Not to mention, I don't want all those other mods.

I'm currently using SilentPatch and Widescreen fix. I tried NaturalHDtextures but it would always crash whenever I exited the game.

Install the Xbox graphics in general or just use certain things (e.g. character/vehicles models and textures)? The Xbox HD mod has practically everything remade in much higher resolution than the official Xbox version port. Plus I don't think there's a way to get around not downgrading to v1.0 since some mods like SkyGfx and to an extent Widescreen Fix require (or at least recommends) a v1.0 executable. The pack that mtsaccorsi pointed out is more or less the Xbox HD mod with some things changed with less hoops to go through, though I'm thinking of making an unofficial update of sorts to the Xbox HD mod to fix some of its outdated features while trying remaining faithful to the mod's original intent. There are however smaller things The Hero has ported from the Xbox version to the PC like the Xbox characters (Skin & Bones), vehicles, the world itself (requires Limit Adjuster from Project 2DFX). I may look into Natural HD Texture to see what went wrong that causes the crashes.

Thanks for the response. It would be nice to just install these mods an individual basis, but I suppose there's some technical reasons I don't understand.

I might try the bundle mtsaccorsi linked to, as it reduces the steps. I just get worried when there's so many changes, as it can cause unforeseen problems.

Don't see any download option on that link.

You have to sign up to Wordpress. I can probably make a mirror to Mega or something if you don't want to go through that.

The mod 'Skin & Bones' breaks some missions here(it crashes during/after cutscenes). So I decided to install everything manually without this one, now the game runs flawlessly.

My guess is probably a few broken textures that hasn't been fixed by The Hero yet (the broken Curly Bob and possibly Maria texture), though I know the ones that are borked and can provided the fixes if need. I also got a mirror of that mod pack by that kirmitz person and about to make a mirror of the Xbox HD mod with the original features.

Damn. Only I really want is the Xbox styled graphics, that includes reflections on cars. Nothing else is really important to me, other than mods SilentPatch and Widscreenfix that I'm using now.

You can get Xbox-like vehicle reflections with SkyGfx, though it looks better with the actual Xbox cars (or the HD Tri-Pack cars). See here:

https://gtaforums.com/topic/815077-skin-and-bones/ **
https://gtaforums.com/topic/759642-ps2-and-xbox-vehicles-for-pc/

Each of those mods have their own instructions included, though for Skin & Bones, you either must replace the model and textures into gta3.img and txd.img respectively or use Mod Loader to load them into without replacing the files.

* Requires v1.0 exe; edit "skygfx.ini" settings to carPipe=1, texblendSwitch=0, texgenSwitch=0
** Will need the fix I'm trying to prepare

Sounds like I should just start with skygfx and sort of go from there. Only thing that is confusing me right now is that the readme says it requires a loader "Simple DLL loader [1] or Ultimate ASI loader [2]"

Okay, try this, @Rezident Meme. It's a pack I made with my own fixes and different structure from the kirmitiz one, however the difference between that one and the official one are...

✔ Less files are being replaced since most of it will be done by Mod Loader
✔ Easier to uninstall mod thanks to Mod Loader
✔ More tweaks and options available within each mod script's INI file (where available); I have pre-configured the mod to give it a look as close to the Xbox version as possible
✘ Uses up more file space since it's not replacing files; most of it is in the mod folder in the "modloader" folder

Download is here (~1.6GB compressed), I highly recommend that you install this on a clean vanilla copy of the game.

My pack has Ultimate ASI Loader already since it's part of Widescreen Fix, as well as the v1.0 downgrade from the Enhanced Edition guide.

EDIT 2:
I can also share a smaller set of mods to get what you're looking for that uses up less space such as SkyGfx and the Ultimate ASI Loader from Widescreen Fix.

EDIT 3:
Here's the smaller set of mods with just the essential things I've put together; I've pre-configured this set to use Xbox-like graphics, including the reflections on cars.

EDIT 4:
I made an error for the HD Tri-Pack cars, gonna need make a hotfix for that...

Wow AV, this looks really impressive. I never expected such massive help. I downloaded the files last night. Hopefully I can try these out today after I get the usual Sunday RL stuff done.
