Played both normal and hard difficulty modes yet still cant get even very hard in the settings menu. Pls help

I see this question has been asked before, without answer. Hopefully I'll have more luck. When I start the game I only see a black screen with slight circles, games does not start. Any fixes? Verifying files integrity and reinstalling did not work.
