Insane load times
The recently released Doom Eternal loads levels faster. I haven't yet run a game with such slow loading on my current hardware.

I have the game installed on an m.2 SSD that is in raid0 configuration with another m.2 SSD. There literally isn't a faster storage solution. Please fix.
_____

I've come to discover that this is due to the game using 100% of my CPU. I have an i7-9700k, and no other software does this.

4 March 2021 Edit:

There was an update today that drastically improved, but has not fixed, this issue. Instead of 100% CPU utilization for several seconds, it's now only about 1 second or less. It still freezes a lot of processes on my PC, which no other games or software does, but it's at least short and manageable.

i thought that the switch version is slow, but is normal the 10 second in wait.

10 seconds is about the normal amount of time during the load screens for the switch. problem is the pc version stutters at the load screen for about 5 seconds then it goes back to normal and loads in around 10 seconds. so pc players are stuck waiting 15 to 20 seconds instead of 10 seconds do to this glitch.

I know it can't possibly be my pc after reading all these complaints and my pc can easily handle games with higher requirements then this game plus Half Genie Hero never had any problems like this. the rest of the game play is fine and super smooth but at this time I can't really recommend the pc version. story and gameplay is amazing, the problem is not the game but this version of the game. if anyone owns a Switch I recommend buying that version instead for now since the loading screens don't stutter and waste your time.

It's especially bad in the save screen after boss fights, makes me worry the game might crash.

On my end, it only stutters during the save screen after a boss fight, other loading screens are all sub 10 seconds.

still no excuse for this, lazy wayforward, overpriced mobile trash.

It's not a Mobile game just because it came out on Apple Arcade and you think 30 dollars/pounds/euros is overpriced? I'm very sorry that you're poor.

it has nothing to do with wealth. You seem to not understand the concept of value. If a person is a millionaire and pays $1 for a piece of rag, they have not received something of sufficient worth for their expenditure. I don't know why anybody would fail to understand such simple principles.

I hope Wayforward addresses this soon, the load times are annoying but manageable. the maxing out all my cores is not. watching my PC have an aneurysm every major area load does make me have concerns.

and as others have pointed out, half genie hero which is practically the same engine, has none of these issues. no slowdown or stuttering, no load times at all really.

What worries me the most is that WF apparently haven't said a single thing about it, not even a "we know about the problem and we're investigating it".

I've been experiencing this problem as well but it's actually a bit worse for me. All my screens ends up blacking out for a moment as it begins loading, and when the screens come back on, sometimes one of my screens bugs out and I have to plug it out and in again. Not only that but the "Level of Detail" thing is bugged, as whenever I try to lower it and leave or go into the game, it resets back to "High."

I tried emailing support because honestly I can deal with the load times if I can play the game but I CAN'T and it's frustrating me.

Can confirm, although its not that bad, it shouldn't take this long for such a simple game on a ssd

Playing on PS4 and can confirm that load times are between 13 to 15 seconds.

I don’t really understand why this is. It’s definitely not taxing the hardware. Would’ve been fine if it wasn’t so frequent.
This game loads high resolution images. It wouldn't be an issue if the game didn't load entire larger area, but only the nearest areas, which would be loaded while you play in the square you're are currently in. The grid based map was invented in Metroid for loading only those squares of the map which are necessary..

The lengthy frequent loading times definitely puts a damper on the overall experience.

If you think that the strangest part try playing a video to the side while going through a load screen all audio and video freezes and/or stutters.
DinoSmith Jun 10, 2020 @ 9:00pm
Wait, there's load times? I got this game on GoG and been playing until the hidden forest village and never saw more than brief flash of a black loading screen. Maybe it has something to do with Steam?
Spritetoggle Jun 11, 2020 @ 2:17am
For those with bad load times, do they get worse later on or something? I'm only in the early game, and while a little long, I haven't had to wait 15-20 seconds or more like I've seen mentioned a few times.

Load times in area transitions like here:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=tvWz2pVxUm8&t=13m26s
(...For some reason I’m seeing the video start at the wrong spot. It’s supposed to be at 13:26.)

Though that video is the Switch version, I’m getting similar load times of about 10-12 seconds if I remember right (it probably varies by area and I haven’t been checking it everywhere.)
