Make a copy of all your saves and back them up. Once that's complete go ahead and start a new game. The autosave will then overwritten with the new game you start but your manual save(s) you made earlier will always be there. I'm not sure if the game has a limit to how many manual saves you can have which is why you should back them up, just in case.
Years later, I also thank you
i can start ng+ with old version, in director cut install game?
Close the original edition of the game, launch the Director's Cut, and on the title screen, select "Load Game (Death Stranding Save Data)". This will then create a new save file for the Director's Cut using your imported data.
