Do people still repair roads?
Im currently in the area of lake knot city - timefall farm, and I rebuild a good quarter of the road on my own... that gave me a ton of likes so I imagine people still play?
now, over a week later, not even one piece road has been completed since the. I cant imagine its intended for you to repair the entire road yourself since it starts to cost 4000+ metals which are really difficult to gather....

if you find that you aren't seeing any progress towards online road completion barring that which you're contributing to yourself, the reason for that is surprisingly simple:
it's tied to story progress, i.e. the game won't allow other players to build more than a certain amount of the network for you according to how far you've gotten

i spent about 80 hours in chapter six delivering lost cargo and completing premium deliveries with absolutely zero progress made by other players in that time
the very moment i hit chapter eight there was a massive surge in delivered materiel

technically there's nothing stopping you from building the entire network yourself as soon as you can reach the autopavers under your own power, but trying to do so too early (or without connecting the paver to the network) will mean you'll be doing all of the heavy lifting yourself

After 90 hours, roads in the area leading to South Knot City have begun to degrade in my game, and I had to repair them. First time I've seen it actually happen. But just confirming, it does happen, and people don't always repair them for you. Three of mine were a hair away from being ruined status.

Keep in mind that who you are synced with varies from game to game, who/how often/what you "like," and that depending on the mix of players you are synced with, you may or may not get more or less repairs and builds happening. People in my game tend to be prone towards ladders, signs, building roads, and delivering cargo. Less so repairing existing structures they come across lol.

Everyone has their preferred playstyle. I tend to build lots of generators, bridges, and timefall shelters for example. So if someone is highly synced to me, they'll find more of those (and hopefully benefit from my obsessive repair habits lol.)

Part of the charm imo is the unexpected ways people manifest indirectly in the game if you play online.

I've rebuilt all of the roads in my game and only 2 people have contributed materials to the upkeep of them. Overall I am the only one that does the upkeep of the roads. I wish more people in my game would help out.

Do you mean repairing the roads when timefall deteriorates them OR actually building the roads for the first time? If it's for the first time, materials are delivered to the autopavers when the area is connected to the chiral network and also after story progress. Only a few will be built by other players. The majority are your responsibility.

If you think material requirements are high, wait until the Director's Cut comes to PC because they added a new road through the mountains that costs like 50k materials all up lol.

Ok this needs to hurry the hell up, Taking the mountain pass without a road is near impossible with some of those missions, the roads let you get past BT's in big old trucks..

I did every single road here on PC current version by raiding the MULE camps, endlessly, my gawd the repetition it took..

Trust me I'd rather just rough it and then zipline but some of these missions require impossible amounts of crap to transport on a back or a bike, and MUST be done with a truck at least.

Oh, also, I just repaired every road on the second map that showed up online for me, for all who put them up. My gawd that took time..

You can't take the ziplines for the enormous deliveries.

Some deliveries have insane amounts of packages, too, and also need a truck even though the weight is within limits, he cannot carry that many packages.
Also keep in mind (as mentioned earlier) whether/how often other players contribute to or repair roads depends entirely on who you're synchronized with in-game. Which depends on a combination of luck, synchronizing with players while in the Seam, likes you give and receive, who uses your structures, and whose structures you use. All of these things factor into who you're most closely synchronized with, and whether or not they happen to be players inclined to contribute heavily towards building or repairing things is kind of luck of the draw, and dependent upon playstyle. I think I've been pretty fortunate so far.
