PC shuts down
I really like this game and have several hours on it.
But since the halloween update my pc just shuts down, So I save my game now every 5 minutes. I don't have problems with other games, only this one recently. So now it is unplayable. Does someone have tips how to fix it? It's strange that it never happened before, and other games I play who are a lot heavier than this one I don't have problems.

I suggest first off monitoring temps of your cpu and gpu to see if you're maxing out, as well as ram usage. You can also check your pcs reliability report "type that in start menu" to see what code it's giving from the shut down.

Thank you for the fast response. So my cpu and gpu should be fine, I play other games with higher requirements without problems. Weed shop is the only game it shuts the pc down. It's not direct but after I play some minutes. Reliability report gives me no issues, and has no information why it shuts down.

People often think WS is a low impact game but its quite the opposite. For one it's a one man dev team. He's spent large amounts of time optimizing, but it'll never match the optimization level of a AAA title. Second, there's a ton of logic going on in the background, which is taxing on a CPU. If your cpu is reaching thermal throttling it could potentially shut down, which happens usually at 100 degree celcius. So definitely monitor these temps as you're playing to make sure it's not reaching these highs.
Maxing out your ram could also cause this issue.
What CPU, GPU and how many gigs of ram do you have?

Did you monitor temperatures while playing? With HWMonitor for example, its free.

Also run a stresstest, like Prime95 or 3d Mark or MemTest. If your computer survives these stresstests without throwing a bluescreen or shutting down, then you got a case with the game.

You can also try Nvidia Inspector and fiddle around with the core clock and memory clock and even mvolts there, and also adjust fan speeds, to make your gpu run cooler.

Also check your power supply unit. How many Ampere does it provide on the 12Volt line?
Maybe its too weak and just shuts down when the gpu pulls too much juice.
:ss_beer2::steamhappy:

yes I did a stress test yesterday with prime95 without problems. So I'm clueless what it can be that gives the problems with weed shop
StonyMike Nov 15, 2023 @ 6:08am
Prime95 only stress tests your cpu, while running the game works your CPU and GPU simultaneously, which could raise both temps more than a test. This is why it would be better to monitor temps while running the game than emulating the stress with any test.

how does your laptop shut down?
does it shut down like you clicked on the button?
get a blue screen?
or is it just out?

is your onboard gpu on or off?

how old is your laptop? all filter clean so the heat can go out?
heat is by far the biggest problem with gamer laptops and often a big problem after around 2 years. :)

It just goes out. No warnings no bluescreens, just shuts completely off.
laptop is a year old, only have it with weed shop.
temps are fine, I checked it today when I tried weed shop again there are no strange issues, it just shuts of after a while.
I do not know what you mean with onboard gpu? but I guess its always on.
Laptop is clean, no dust or things.
so its look like your problem could be temperature problem or your power supply unit maybe a hardware failure in your gpu. because your pc do a emergency shutdown or lose the power and just goes off.
a driver // hdd // ram problem would force a blue screen more often.

Intel(R) Core i7-11800H has a gpu on it (often called an onboard gpu). if its not disabled some games use this gpu and force problems. most of the time more like low fps and so on. but maybe in your situation an emergency shutdown?

what are the other games you play? the one with the highest requirements?

maybe you could try and test to lock the fps for this game to 60?

you tested with prime and had no problems with your cpu. you could also test with furmark your gpu.

So I fixed the problem, played 2 days without crashes etc. Apparently my cooling fan was broken and did not cool the GPU good enough, so I bought a new fan and I have no problems anymore. Thanks for the help everyone.
