Path of Giants is a snow-themed short traversal puzzle adventure developed by a married couple sharing a passion for creating and playing video games.

The story is about three explorers trying to find their way in search of a lost treasure. The game is based on teamwork, requiring the player to make these characters help each other to solve the puzzles and safely reach their target destination.

The puzzles are well-designed and so much fun. Although the game might not feel challenging enough for some people, the level of difficulty is good enough to cover a wide range of players so that everyone can enjoy the game and no one gets left behind.

The characters and their animations are so cute. The menu interface looks very clean, and it provides some useful information. The game includes alternative colors as a colorblind feature for a better understanding of the colors.

Both the music and sound effects are well suited to the theme of the game. The music does not change much, and it mostly repeats itself, but this is acceptable for a short game.

The game is quite relaxing, and it offers a decent challenge at the same time. It is highly recommended for players who enjoy playing relaxing puzzle games.

The game is presented in a snowy-themed area with simple 3D graphics. Despite having no face, our protagonists still look cute with their hooded clothing and round eyes. Surprisingly, the game doesn't neglect its background despite the puzzle genre - backgrounds are carefully designed, either with shadowy objects or a moving vehicle. The relaxing music also helps to enhance the snowy theme even more.

The game has a unique way of storytelling. You'll be presented with a scrollable region containing some images and texts. Some of the images are animated, making the scene more impactful. There isn't much that we can learn about the story, especially with the simple premise, although the story makes up for it with the images and unique presentation.

Gameplay
Each level is separated into two sections: 3D puzzles on the first few parts and a 2D Pipe-like puzzle at the end. The 3D puzzle requires you to control 3 explorers, one at a time, to reach the goal. It focuses on boosting each other up and pressing switches, although some collectibles in the form of breakable pots will also be available for you to collect.

The tutorial that is available in the first level does a good job of explaining the mechanic. It only covers the basic mechanics though, forcing you to figure out the rest of the mechanics by yourself. Luckily, they aren't that difficult to learn in the first place - most of them are just some variations of switches that can help you to reach new areas. The only tricky mechanic that you need to learn is when you have to account for the delay between pressing the switches and the moving platform to solve some puzzles. It's not that hard to learn and execute, although some people might fail to notice this if they aren't that observant.

Length and Difficulty
I finished all 17 levels in 2.7h. The levels are ranging from easy to medium difficulty, with the game being more difficult at the last 4 levels. You can get stuck at some levels, forcing you to either restart the puzzle or undo some moves. The game is also forgiving in this regard, especially since it will only reset the progress of the current puzzle if you choose to restart, despite it being not the only puzzle that you solve on that level.

Problems
There was one occasion when one of my explorers can't be selected after I pressed the undo button a lot of times, forcing me to restart the level. The game also has no fast forward button - the animation when the explorers boost each other up can be too long sometimes.

The relaxing music and the simple gameplay make the game to be enjoyable. It was nice to solve the puzzles without feeling it be too difficult to solve. Although I felt a bit tired playing the game near the end of the game because of the increased difficulty, I don't mind spending more time solving more levels. It's a perfect game for casual players that love puzzle games.

Path of Giants is a lovely puzzle game that is well-crafted and quite fun. Take control of three explorers and help them navigate their paths through the 12 main-story levels in their quest for a lost treasure. There is 1 bonus level after that and what appears to be 4 seasonal levels too. The game has a mobile version for Android and iOS, but I did not try that one and I do not know if there's a difference.

The puzzles are well-designed to require a good amount of logical thinking. Seemingly easy at first, they do increase in complexity and become rather thought-provoking. The game also progressively introduces newer mechanics to make every level feel fresh and exciting. The characters need to work in tandem in order to solve the puzzles, and the introduced mechanics throughout the game only serve to make the game more interesting.

The overall game appearance is absolutely lovely, from the design of the characters to the animations. Nothing is overly complex. The look and the puzzles just feel right together. It game me the same heart-warming sense in the general appearance and feel of the puzzles as the very first time I played Monument Valley years ago. Of course the puzzles are very different in design, it's just a general vibe that I get.

I love when an indie game has that feel of having plenty of thought, time, as well as love poured into creating it. This is definitely an indie team of a husband and wife pair who have put the game together in their spare time. It's evident that they have a passion for small puzzles that evoke thought yet have a clear logical path that are "so close, yet so far." I got stuck very early on in my first-look video that I had to conclude it and recruit my wife for assistance. I was delighted to read about the developers after the fact.

So what are you waiting for? Definitely go support these developers!

By the way, the game automatically saves after each puzzle, and there are 3-4 puzzles in each level. You can always go back to each level with full access to look at any of the individual puzzles that you have completed. This is great if you want to revisit just one puzzle from before.

You can play without a timer limit and you can easily undo any series of actions. It's really an ideal casual puzzler. There may be a time or two where you have to think outside-the-box and perform an action or two in a time-specific manner, but it's hardly difficult once you come to see through the logic involved.

I did find one bug where I could not move at all, and not from being stuck on the puzzle. Though it's easy just to reset the puzzle or reset the level, and the game worked fine after that. This is not huge or game-breaking. And the puzzles are not large to warrant any significant frustrations.

Mouse is all that you need. There is gamepad support for people who want to perhaps take a lazy approach from the living room couch and the game projected onto your big screen for a family to tackle the puzzles together.

Clean and lovely to look at, nothing fancy, but seemingly so right.

Calm with a disturbance--is how I would describe it. Serene and fitting the mood. There is not a lot of variety in the music, but I am okay with that.

If you enjoy logic puzzles and permutations, there should be no hesitation to try this game out.

On Android and iOS, it's $3.99. On Steam, it's $8.99. I think the game is well worth the asking price, though there's a launch 15% discount, so don't wait! It's really fun!

Path of Giants is a logic puzzle game with colorful graphics and cute animations.

Taking control of 3 explorers, moving them one at a time, you have to help them get from the start to the finish. The explorers can help each other to climb or descend a ledge. Challenge comes from figuring out the order of interacting with each puzzle element. The levels are challenging enough to leave you thinking for a few minutes, but not difficult enough to make you give up.

There are 17 levels with 3 of the usual puzzles and an end of level tile puzzle. In some of the levels you have to reach a switch before the rest of level is revealed and sometimes you can lock yourself without any valid moves left. Fortunately there is an undo button that makes it forgiving. The end level puzzle is a simple one where rotating tiles helps connect all 3 colors.

The story is a short one about finding the artifact and the gold told with a few lines of dialogue and a scrolling comic. Each of the explorers has 3 different color schemes and you can break pots to collect coins that unlock the hidden level.

One issue that I ran into was the game constantly crashing until I reduced the graphics quality to "Low". I don't know if this is because of a poor mobile port, but I still had fun. With my i3-8100 and GTX 1050 Ti, I feel like that shouldn't happen in a small game like this.

For achievement hunters:
Complete all the levels, get all the coins, break 7 pots in 3 seconds, using undo quickly 12 times and completing 12 levels without undo. You can view at which level you have used undo in levels->stats after you complete all the levels.

Path of Giants is about 3 explorers in the icy mountainous world of the legendary giants and their quest to find the lost treasure called the Lantril. It is a delightfully charming and entertaining game with some brain twisters towards the end and very suitable for children.
The 3 explorers are Bern, Matchi and Totch and they are cute, childlike characters. Their gibberish sounds a bit like the minions and every time you solve a door puzzle, they cheer and jump for joy!
Game play is point at one explorer and point where you want to go. Each explorer has a different coloured coat which can be changed in the menu for those who are colour blind. Some puzzles are solved by colour, so the one with the yellow jacket has to push the yellow button. The complexity of the puzzles increase as the game progresses.
Some paths are simple, others very convoluted. New mechanics are gradually introduced with floating platforms, single or double elevators, stones that rise and even a mini ferris wheel. A couple of levels have a slope to slide down accompanied with an squeal of whee! Some buttons reveal hidden stairs or missing pieces.
At the heart of the game, is friendship. Watching out for one another, the 3 explorers work together to get each other to either their floating platforms or the door for the next level. To reach a higher step, they have to jump on top of each other, using another explorer as a ladder with an accompanied grunt. Their animation is adorable as they dart around their environment. If an explorer can't move to the space you want it to go to, it just folds its arms and shakes its head. No!
Graphics are crisp and clear. In the far background you can see giants and other things. On a couple of levels, there is even a train running around. The environment and the puzzles themselves were very well done and quite innovative.
There are coins to collect, so you smash all the vases on each level where the coins are. There are usually 3 vases for each puzzle area, but can be up to 7 in some areas. There are no timed puzzles, although some actions need to be fast, especially on the elevators. If you have made a mistake, there is an undo function which has no limit. This makes for a more casual and relaxing puzzle game. Beware that this is not The Witness or even The Talos Principle type of game. It is a simple, but very entertaining and well crafted puzzle game with medium difficulty.
Music was ok but it got on my nerves after a while, so I turned it down. I had no problems with the controls and there were no bugs that I encountered. Game play is 3 to 6 hours depending on your Einstein level.
Highly recommend, especially for families. It is 60% off at the moment if you're sitting on the fence. An adorable and entertaining puzzle game. 8.5/10

After an hour played for my coverage of the Humble Choice December 2020:

Path of Giants. This is a puzzle game where you take on the role of three adventurers. I immediately thought of the Lost Vikings or Trine, but it turns out that none of the characters have a special ability.

This is just a point and click puzzle game. You move each character, have them hit buttons, and solve simplistic one-screen levels. Each Chapter has three or four rooms but I was able to make good progress. Perhaps too good. I got through 9 chapters out of a total of 17 and really didn’t struggle that much.

Truthfully, it’s a good game, but it has almost no challenge for puzzle fans. It is a serene or chill game, but as a fan of puzzle games, I want a little more. Something that literally puzzles me. If it wasn’t for the move animation I probably could have beat even more puzzles.

If you really like puzzle games and like the look of this game, it’s kind of charming in that way, but I’d really say most people should avoid this. The puzzles are just too easy, and the experience almost feels passive, which is a bad sign for a puzzle game.

path of giants is a fantastic puzzle game, a bit on the easy side, so perfect for the whole family. there's practically nothing to criticize about it, and I'm the nitpickiest person I know.

the story is fine for a game like this, 3 guys (they look and sound like jawas) are hunting for some treasure, good luck. there's a bit of chit-chat before some levels and a nicely-drawn intro and outro, so what little narrative there is, it's presented pleasantly.

the three amigos all have their own colors (which can be changed if need be), and the goal on each level is to help them assist each other to reach the end of the area and open the door to the next one, eventually leading to something shiny.

controls are excellent. mouse and controller both work, I used the former, and while nothing's rebindable, I couldn't find a fault in pointing & clicking. select the desired character, tell them where to go, that's it. right click is instantaneous unlimited undo and zooming is also a possibility with the mouse wheel, but there's no need for it, everything's clearly visible. you can tilt the camera a little to the left and right as well, which isn't much use either, but it's there.

every level has 3 or 4 regular puzzles, each taking up a single screen, and there's another one on the door leading to the next area. the creatures start on the left and have to reach the right side and their respective destination based on their jacket color. they can't do much on their own, walk around and climb ladders is pretty much it, can't even climb rocks only a bit taller than them, so they're in constant need of each other, but they don't mind climbing on each other's head to reach another platform or climb off one.

there will be a lot of moving around, stepping on color-coded pressure plates for a temporary effect, activating switches that permanently change the area (these can be used by anyone), going through doors that are basically teleporters, or entering wooden elevators and abusing the pulley system. there are also colored tiles that only appear when that particular character is selected, but even if you leave them in the middle of one of these bridges and switch to someone else, they won't fall down.

no timer, no timing, no enemies, no move limit, no permanent fail-states due to unlimited undo right until the beginning of the current puzzle, and the game even tells you if you painted yourself into a corner, time to go back a few steps and re-think the strategy.

at the end of each level there's a pipemania-like puzzle to open the door, and blocks can be rotated clockwise and counter-clockwise with left and right click, something even games entirely focused on rotating stuff can't always manage, and the door puzzles aren't that intricate, so it wouldn't be a huge deal if only one direction was available.

there are also pots to break, serving as collectibles to unlock some bonus content. several of them are scattered around the levels, some sneakily in the background, but only 3 of them count, the rest can be broken for fun.

the main story consists of 12 levels, and with all the coins collected from the pots, a hidden chamber opens up to conclude the narrative, plus 4 bonus levels, making it 17 levels in total, 4 or 5 puzzles on each, as I already mentioned. it's not a difficult game, the bonus levels are slightly trickier though. pulleys and rotating wheels always confuse me and they had me stumped here a few times as well, but nothing too taxing. completing everything takes about 5 hours.

it's worth noting that the game doesn't waste your time. animations are just the right speed, don't take too long, and no need to wait for one character to finish moving, others can be controlled in the meantime, unless they're in each other's path or otherwise blocked, of course. also, progress is saved after every puzzle, so if you have to quit mid-level, you can, just make sure it's not in the middle of the current puzzle, as it'll get reset next time the level is loaded.

the presentation is perfect as well. I mentioned the cutscenes already and I loved the look of the levels, great art style, not too busy, really charming, cute animations, the music is beautiful, the sound effects are good too.

gibberish during dialog is one of my biggest pet peeves. I've had to pass on entire games because they couldn't offer voiceovers or simply blessed silence and I couldn't even finish watching the trailer, let alone spend several hours listening to it, but in this game even gibberish is done right and a separate speech slider got patched in just before release, so you can mute only that if you want while still having music and sound effects.

besides separate volume sliders, there's one for camera shake, dialog can be turned off entirely, windowed mode and resolution options are available, as well as colorblind options when selecting jacket colors for the characters. there's an in-game representation of achievements and level selection. individual puzzle selection, in fact, don't even need to replay the whole level in case you missed a pot or just want to play a puzzle again, simply select a checkpoint. and everything can be accessed while playing, not just from the main menu.

can't emphasize enough how well-put-together the whole game is. all the settings, attention to detail, small quality of life stuff nobody would miss except for me, but they're all there. this is how you port a mobile game to pc, but most pc developers could learn a lot from it as well. also about how to make stress-free puzzle games that don't waste your time. highly recommended, especially at this price.

Path of Giants is a puzzle game where the player must guide three adventurers through a series of maze like levels in search of some lost treasure.

The three characters, who look like little Jawas from Star Wars, each wear a different coloured jacket, and this colour indicates which objects they’re able to interact with in each level. There are coloured switches which activate moving platforms, coloured light bridges that can only be crossed by one character, and your goal is to have all three characters stand on a platform matching their colour.

The adventurers must also help each other to climb up or down, because the only way they can reach higher or lower platforms is by standing on each other’s heads. If you make a mistake you can undo moves one at a time, and if you ever do something to make a level unsolvable the game will tell you immediately.

Its a fun game with a nice colourful art style, and my only real complaint is that its so short. I completed every level, and found every hidden collectable coin, in 3 hours. Its a shame because I was enjoying the game, the puzzle mechanics are interesting, and I just wish the developers had gone on to design a few more complex and challenging levels.

Is this game a masterpiece? It is a simple puzzle game in pleasing visual style. 3 explorers must reach their designated places in each room. Guide them there to unlock the next room. None of them can climb up or down alone, they always need the help of one of their colleagues. So the basic challenge consists of moving them to the right place in the right order. Soon you have to use little structures to advance as well. At the end of each level a door must be unlocked by a little stone-turning puzzle. Collect vases on the way, like you did in Lara Croft GO. The game does not only look good (and makes older GPUs sweat), it is also relaxing without turn- or time limit and it has an undo feature. Can be played by mouse or with controller.

Conclusion:
Relaxing puzzle game.

Path of Giants is a perfectly adequate puzzle game. You play as three bundled-up explorers searching a snowy, mountainous area for the lost treasure of the giants. It quickly becomes clear that there are no giants to speak of (save as large, frozen things in the background); rather, this is a pure puzzle game, with no enemies in it whatsoever.

The goal is to get each of the three explorers to a little appropriately colored platform on the far side of the level, and the game pretty much everything it can do with a very limited number of mechanics.

The game is built entirely around isometric movement over a 3D area. The explorers cannot climb from one level to another on their own, but they can climb ladders or be boosted up on the shoulders of their fellows. The simpler puzzles make use of this, and then as the game progresses, additional puzzle pieces are added, such as counterweighted lifts (where if you add more weight to one side, it goes down, and it will balance out if the two sides are equal in weight – such as, say, with one explorer on each), buttons that move around environmental features, and doors that can take you from one part of the level to another.

The game is very simple, and also quite short; I beat all of the main levels in about an hour and a half, with another hour and a half spent on the more difficult post-game levels and in collecting a few achievements I hadn’t gotten my first time through.

There is an undo button in the game that lets you go back one move; this is rarely necessary until the post-game Winterfest puzzles, which are significantly more difficult than the main puzzles and also much easier to trap yourself on. Indeed, I went through the entire original thirteen levels without using it once, which garners you an achievement. That is not to say that the puzzles are facile, however; they have a reasonable difficulty level that ramps up over time, and none of them feel frustratingly vague. You know what you’re supposed to do, you just need to figure out how to do it, which is the correct way to design a puzzle game.

Graphically, it vaguely reminded me of Laura Croft: Go in terms of its graphics and having hidden pots that could be broken in the background with an isometric 3D view. It is reasonable enough in this regard; nothing special, but good enough for the purposes of the game.

So is it worth it? Here, I waver. This is a perfectly adequate puzzle game, and there’s nothing wrong with it. While it might seem a bit on the short side, it really doesn’t want to be any longer than it is; the game does everything it really wants to do with its mechanics, and doing more would just boil down to repetition. So I wouldn’t hold it’s length against it at all.

However, the game doesn’t really excel in any way. Like a lot of puzzle games that end up in the Humble Monthly bundles, this is something that you don’t really feel bad as getting as part of a bundle, but which it doesn’t feel like you would have gone out of your way to experience, either.

As such, this is one of those “this was okay” kind of recommendations – it’s decent, but not amazing. If you are a fan of puzzle games of this sort, this is a fine example, but if you’re not a puzzle game fan, I wouldn’t recommend this to you – it’s not going to leave much of an impression.
