Timecycle devs developed is amateurish.
As we know, RDR2 is a much slower paced game than Grand Theft Auto series. That means things take way more time than they do in GTA. From slow actions, to grounded by today's standards physics, the game has that "weight" to it that other games don't quite have. Dealing with a horse alone can take up to 5 minutes, then way more time to actually decide where you want to go and either head to the objective or finish certain activities.

The game's graphics also keep the player invested into the game and player occasionally stops to sink in the view under different angles. The problem, however, is that sometimes when the player wants to observe either a sunset or a sunrise, the game's timecycle moves way too quickly to observe and "sink in" the moments. Moving from one place to the other that's pretty close can also take few in-game hours. If the player wants to enjoy the night atmosphere after few minutes at the bar, get on horse and head into the wilderness, by that time it will already be morning and the player wouldn't be able to enjoy the night atmosphere the same in-game day. The game is not GTA and is an entirely different franchise with an entirely different pace, meaning that picking the same timecycle where things move too fast was not a good design decision on Rockstar's part. The game has a lot of issues like this one to prevent it from being an actually good game.

If you are mainly going to mess around with RDR2 Story and not play RDO; then I would put some basic mods into RDR2 Story. For one, the Rampage Trainer helps. It allows you to change the game time-cycle. You can even set it to real-time if you wish. Or even use a system-sync to sync the in-game time of day to that which it is in real-life for you. However when you perform certain quests or missions (or even when dealing with Pereson for example) after such interactions take place, the in-game time-cycle gets reset to the default one. But again you can change it as you go.

One reason I think the devs designed the time-cycle in the way that they did was so the player can come across time-sensitive events and such more easily. As there are things that happen or spawn in the game that are based on time of day; such as various fish at certain spots only available during certain times of day. And there are plenty of events and animal spawns that only happen at night.

"the only reason because time sensitive events". no. that "time sensitive events" thing could have been adjusted with a better timecycle in mind. if some function changes then all other dependencies have to adjusted accordingly. its called game development.

There's always a mod:
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/41

With "Longer Days" one can set the ratio between realtime and gametime, day and night.

Alway read the mod-descriptions carefully and how to install mods, but there is nothing wrong to play a modded offline game and enhancing the experience ;-)

is it work for weather as well? i remember to mod timecycle in gta5 but sadly weather cycle still remained too fast

Yes, as far as my experience goes.
It seems to me, the time (and therefore the weather-cycles) will be kinda "stretched"

!! And you have the advantage, that with this mod you do not again have to set the timescale after every ingame mission (like what you would have to do with a trainer like rampage trainer or else) because the mod, when an ingame mission occurs, lets the mission play out (in it's certain time or time-frame) and then again sets the time as you already have defined in the mod-config-file.

When one only needs longer days, a full grown overpowered trainer might be overkill.

Be aware, that you have to install a proper scripthook too and that, after a R* game-update, the mods maybe won't work as planned.. depends on the scripthook you use and the update R* provides, o'course.

I prefer the scripthook from ab-software dev-c:
(as far as I know this is the original and first scripthook. there are more, depending on what you need from a modification, scripthook is kinda software-library for mods)
http://dev-c.com/rdr2/scripthookrdr2/

Sure sounds a bit overcomplicated, but for me it's absolutely worth it :-))

This game has not had an update since Sep 2022 and that was to patch some security stuff. The updates you've been receiving since then don't affect mods because it's just to update the bundled rockstar launcher is all.

one time i thought i make a nice poker game and force all npc into ruin.
startet at the beginning of the night.
i thought yeah i go to bed afterwards and start the adventrue from there.
yeah the sunrises and falls and rises again...
so this game took maybe 30 hours???
but hey i think one hand in poker is 1 hour? slow animation with speeded up time sucks.

it was the same in skyrim holy hel had this game fast days.

It takes an npc a in-game half hour to walk past the general store in Valentine.

I think Rockstar and any other open world game devs should provide an option of time scaling, that will allow us to set our own time pacing of day-night cycle. Someone want it to be 24 min = 24 hours like in old gta, ok be it, but if someone want to make realistic 24 hours = 24 hours - let it be as well, also someone want in-game time to sync with real life time, and there was some games that allowed it (like Burnout Paradise), and it was very cool when you can play in morning and see morning in a game, and play in night and see night in a game.

I doubt rockstar will add such feature to older games, but we can hope for ASI mod that can do it, however it will not allow to play online like that and its a shame.

On DirectX 12, there is a problem is that when the time of day changes (from evening to night, or from night to morning), the gradual cycle of changes in time and weather does not work. In an instant, the lighting changes - either from bright weather to dark. It only helped if I changed from Directx 12 to Vulkan.

Lack of options in singleplayer games always bugged me. Like what gives?

yea

Maybe because it's a story telling game first; open world stuff is all secondary.
You just WANT the game to be your little nice open world sandbox, that it is not, and was not designed to be. You can address this quite a bit with Story Mode Mods though.
