Horses on John's ranch

I was doing those chores on John's ranch when I realized there's a bunch of horses in one spot on his ranch. Is there any reason I shouldn't sell them to the horse fence?

Also putting a cougar spawn point next to the entrance to his ranch is a hilarious prank.

And yeah, I'm guessing that cougar has given hugs to many a returning traveler.
