What are some Essential mods?
Just got the game on PC yesterday so looking for some good mods for my playthrough, I already played the whole story on PS4 years ago so already done vanilla. What would you suggest as an essential mod that fixes game issues, restores content or greatly improves needed things? I personally like mods that improve immersion.

These are the mods I've installed or found so far:
ScriptHookRDR2 V2
RDR2-DSX (for adaptive triggers)
Smoking animation toggle
Cut Dialogue Restorarion and Enhancement
No glowing objects
Crime and Law Rebalance and Enhancement
Higher Res Vegetation
Basic Needs
And I'm looking at a ragdoll physics mod, probably AEM but not sure.

Any suggestions for more mods would be greatly appreciated.

i'd say whyem's DLC for extra fashionwares because i love fashion, gives alot more choices in clothing and hairstyles, tho some clipping might appear after chapter 3 sadly... maybe PED damage overhaul, but it makes the game way harder since you can basically die in 2-3 shots ( same for allies) while your enemies will shrugs off more shots unless on vital parts

I was actually just looking at WhyEms stuff now, I don't think I want to add clothing items just yet but his visuals mod seems intriguing, but I have no idea how much it will affect performance from the details I can find.

One of the more crucial mods for me was Longer Days.

Vanilla game was that for every real time of 2 sec , was 1 min in game.
I hated when I went fishing for 10 real time minutes and half the day went by.

I changed the .ini settings so that 15 sec real time was was 1 min in game.
made a difference for me.

Another one you can check out is Gold Panning.
A little buggy, but when it works it's a nice distraction.

I would like to check out "Dynamic Seasons"
The mod adds all 4 seasons (yes... that's spring, summer, autumn and winter). Each of the seasons will have its own visual palette, temperatures, sunset/sunrise times, weather and everything else you expect with an actual seasonal climate.......

Oh yeah I'm definetely getting that now! I decided to leave the no glowing objects mod out for now because a lot of comments are reporting bugs apparently to do with scripthook. Are there any other mods that do that? Also the Jobs mod seems to have been taken down by the author a week ago.
Westford 25 jul. 2023 às 17:59
Jobs, I actually have that too.
Haven't used it much, but I also saw that this mod is currently hidden on nexus.
I'll probably remove it, I didn't really use it yet.

A couple of other ones I use.
- Automatic Greet Replies
This is a very small simple mod, that implements automatic greet replies to NPCs
When an NPC says hello to you, you will now respond back automatically

- Stagecoach Robberies
If you loved the stagecoach robberies in the game, this mod is for you as it brings
infinite, randomally generated stagecoach robbery missions, available all around the
gorgeous RDR2 map.

Look for the Wagon Wheel icon at Post Offices.

Check out Shtivi's stuff on nexus. All good mods. My favourites are duels, seats, bounties expanded and contracts. Stagecoach robberies are also great but the mod crashes my game in Van Horn for some reason, but maybe it'll work for you, idk. Apart from that, I'd really recommend AMJM transport, it adds so much to the game it's crazy. Other mods I recommend are: Gun Tricks (adds gun tricks from online into singleplayer), FWOC (lets you fast walk outside camp), Camp Anywhere (self explanatory), More Pretty Gun (adds legendary skins to guns), Red Dead Offline (adds some online gear like the navy revolver and clothes, but beware, ponchos are bugged), Hunting Rebalance (makes hunting make more sense, for example you can now get perfect snake pelts using the varmint rifle instead of a bow and arrow). Also, WhyEm was already mentioned but you should seriously get it. It's the best. Also get yourself the Rampage trainer.

Haha I was just about to download that one 10 minutes ago, but I thought that I might wanna do a more low honor playthrough this time and not always be friendly. The stagecoach one sounds great though. I've also got the Bounty Hunting mod but not activating that until I do one in the base game first, and a bank robberies mod but not sure how well that one works atm.

Okay thank you! I'm gonna hold off on stagecoach mod til I get to that area and can test it out I think. Those are all great suggestions I didn't know about the transport and hunting ones that's definitely something I want and FWOC sounds nice too. I did go with his Particles mod but I'm not sure about the Visuals one as I'm not using HDR.

AMJM Transport looks like an incredible mod.
I'm guessing that this is geared towards the epilogue, considering
one of the requirements is a Beecher Hope mod.

Definitely on my radar for end game.

The Hunting Rebalance looks great, my only problem is I have had no luck getting LML
mods to work.

The instructions seem pretty basic.
I'll give it another try and report back.

I just installed LML for the first time for the use of 5 mods and it seems to work well. Haven't tested hunting yet. I think you just gotta make sure you launch LML, load the game folder so the mods are loaded and keep it running when you launch the game.

Ok, so this is where I might be messing up.

- I copy the contents of the downloaded "ModLoader" into the RDR2 root folder.
- I create an "LML" folder into the RDR2 root folder.
- I then copy all of the files from a mod (that requires LML} into the LML folder
that is in the RDR2 root folder.

I then launch the RDR2.exe

Does LML need to launch before running RDR2.exe ?
So how do you specifically launch LML ?

When I use mods that just require ScriptHookRDR2, I copy the files that comes with a
specific mod to the RDR2 root folder, and if required copy any folders that come with that mod, that also needs to go into the RDR2 root folder.

I then launch the RDR2.exe and those ScriptHookRDR2 mods work.

You can actually run AMJM without the Beecher's hope mod, it is only 'recommended', I personally don't use it. As for LML, it's really simple. You need to unpack the contents of the Mod Loader folder, not the folder itself, the lml folder is included there, so you don't need to create anything. Then, look at installation instructions when downloading mods, cause some are installed in the game root folder and others in lml. When installed in the right folder everything should just work when you launch the game, there is no way to launch LML specifically.

I don't think you're supposed to create the LML folder yourself. I copied mine from the folder I downloaded. Also the modloader folder can go anywhere like on your desktop. I'm pretty sure LML does need to launch, I was googling it for a bit trying to work that out myself earlier but all the videos I looked up they don't close LML before launching the game so I assume it does need to be running. But yeah the scripthook mods don't need you to keep anything else running unless they use something like DSX. Make sure you download it from here: https://www.rdr2mods.com/downloads/rdr2/tools/76-lennys-mod-loader-rdr/
