Pearson crafting
So.. i just got into the third chapter and i still dont know how the crafting works with Pearson. Do you have to bring two skins of two different animals that pearson needs to craft you something? Or do i have to just kill animal, skin it and donate it and once im ready ill just come to him and let him craft it for me? Also what crafted things i should get?

In the crafting menu you can see which skins you need to craft something. Like the snake banjo needs 2 perfect snake skins. Donate those to Pearson and you can craft things. Don't forget to buy the leatherworking tools first though in the Ledger. Otherwise he can't craft anything yet. Good luck

This guide helped me through it all, pretty good and covers just about all of it . . .good luck!

An easy thing to look out for when donating skins/carcasses to Pearson, is when you select the perfect animal skin - if it says "donate for crafting", it will automatically be stored until you can craft the item(s) necessary. If it says "donate for funds", it will be sold, and "donate for provisions" means it can only be used as food.

So far i got only poor. Must buy ammo for animals to make it perfect i guess.

So if i give it half of the requirements for one thing i want to craft and i get out of the camp and go hunting again and i bring him the other thing he requires i will be able to craft it? I was hoping it would work like that.

Use the right gun for hunting. It helps a lot for getting perfect pelts. Also, try to get the Legendary Buck as the trinket gives you better quality skins.

To get a perfect skin you have to use the correct weapon and kill the animal with a single headshot. The compendium tells you which weapon to use for which animal.

That is correct, you don't have to donate all the required materials at the same time. Like another user said:

Important to check it's a 3-star before shooting, and always aim for headshots . . .

Yes, Pearson stores everything you bring him until you have enough to craft the item.

I would like to have the right gun, but i still got bolt action locked for some reason and cant buy it. Is there some other weapon i can use? idk.. something like springfield or sniper rifle u get from John at the end of chapter 2? With different munition of course. The one for hunting. Even tho i headshot animals i still get poor quality for some reason. I mean the skin doesnt even get damaged.

Would poison arrows do the job? I think i have it/can purchase it from Fence. Tho i have no idea how to craft poison arrows.
And if so, how many hits does it take to kill an animal with poison arrow? The big ones of course such as bear or bisons.

The rolling block rifle or springfield rifle will work just fine for large animals like deer or alligators. Regarding the quality, not every animal can yield a perfect pelt. Every animal has a rating of 1, 2 or 3 stars, which you can see in the bottom right corner when aiming at it. Only the 3 star specimens will yield a perfect pelt after a clean kill. Don't bother with 1 or 2 star trash.

This ^ exactly . . .don't overkill with bigger weapons, it ruins pelts.
I use a bow for almost everything . . .regular arrows for boar/deer/black bear/cougars/goats/sheep, etc. Small game arrows for rats/birds/squirrels/chipmunks, etc. Improved arrows for elk/grizzlies/bighorn/panthers, etc

That will bring down most everything without overkill ;)

I read somewhere you can lasso animals such as deers. Does it apply to other animals that are about the same size as deers or a little bit higher?
