Why would you buy RDR2 on Steam instead of EPIC?
I am just curious as I have stopped buying most of my games on Steam and I buy from EPIC if I could. Reasons are as follows

1) I save money because EPIC charges developers a fair price for using their store

2) Developers Save money because EPIC charges them a fair price for using their store

3) Steam has blatantly ripped off developers to build their empire with enormous cut from the profits of their games and actually caused some companies to go bankrupt preventing us from even getting a sequel.

4) Steam is a monopoly and has gradually shown they are willing to take full advantage of that

5) Steam has conspired with Bethesda to charge people for Mods in Skyrim years ago and when people spoke out against it, Valve Employees outright banned the posting rights of those users on the entire Steam Platform.

I got RDR2 for $26 on Epic last week and I got GTAV Free aswell as World War Z Free.

EPIC games helps developers create Cross Platform Play, World War Z for example has cross play among PC and XBOX and soon it's coming to PS4.

EPIC is actively trying to make Cross Play the norm which would have the single largest impact on Fighting Games since Fighting Games die very quickly on PC Platform. They havee gone out of their way to solve the single biggest issue regarding Cross Play between Console and PC which is devs not having the money or resources to implement servers for Cross Play, EPIC is standing the cost of such a service.

You may dislike this post, however after researching and keeping a close eye on EPIC and how they have used that Fortnite money to actively benefit Gamers across the board my decision to support EPIC was an easy one.

Is this a troll post or is OP just ridiculously misinformed? Steam sale's cut is the industry standard:

https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/10/07/report-steams-30-cut-is-actually-the-industry-standard
So obviously Steam has never been the reason for a company to be bankrupt.
The cut is actually even better than on PS4 and xbox because games that sold a lot of copies even have a reduced cut.
And it's fair that it's higher than on Epic because Steam offers an enormous amount of features that I want to use and that's a serviec that's need to be paid too. Epic has jack sh!t in comparision and hardly even improves their garbage-level service. The publisher may benefit, but the players don't at all.

It's also a blatant lie, that people have been permanently muted on the entire Steam platform for voicing critique. People might have been banned from the Skyrim discussion but these bans are handled by community moderators set by Bethesda, NOT Valve.
Not to mention that the paid-mods parts was removed a single day later.

Says the man with 1500 hours in two Valve games. I've seen bait before, this is bait and tbh, it's not very good. Try harder.

EDIT - LMAO. He's had most of his reviews banned on Steam. That's why he doesn't like it, he's got a bee in his bonnet with a mod who's handed him his arse and he's crying now. This is beautiful.

Thread: "I bought <game> on Epic, let me post on Steam forum to justify my purchase. Waahhh Epic give games gud, Steam bad."

Anyways, why not post this on Epic forums? It would've gotten the reaction that you wanted.
Oh wait...

I love that argument. :) You know, Steam has free games, too? And if you really want to support developers, why aren't you buying the game at full price? Why are you waiting for cheap or free games? How do you support the developers like this?

I bought RDR2 on Epic for one simple reason -- It was the first platform to be made available for PC users. I also bought several other games for this very reason. Borderlands 3, Outer Worlds. I'm old, and have money but not time.

I am curious about the 2 or 3 comments I have seen about Epic not allowing offline play -- I must be completely confused or misunderstanding the comments, because I ONLY play offline, and have well over 100 hours each in the games I mentioned.

It's kind of funny, I remember the exact same arguments that are being used against Epic being used against Steam ~15 years ago. I also remember when CIV V was reported as a Steam Exclusive; the internet nearly blew up!

I will say that I do not like that Epic does not have dedicated forums (although I understand the reason). And although pointless and trivial; I really miss achievements.
As far as i know not all games can be played offline, idk bout other games but the only one i tryed was gta 5 and i wasnt able to run it even with social club logged in offline mode.

I go on Epic to get the free games, but I'd rather burn my money than give a penny to Tim Sweeney and his Chinese overlords

An opinion that makes no sense either...

How can a company go bankrupt because Steam is taking a larger cut than other companies? If they were in the position, they would have been screwed before they were even able to sell their game on the platform.

1) You don't save money. both games are sold for the same price however sales might happen during different periods, i bought my copy of RDR2 for €30,- here on steam. i aint gonna sweat about €2,-

2) They don't save money, they just earn more. because of the the fact that Steam wants 30% of the money and Epic only 12% (more on that later)

3) No company has gone bankrupt from selling on steam, the company still gets like 70% of their profit which is removed once 5 million copies are sold and then get full 100% of their proft meaning that if a game is successfull they'll earn more then they would on Epic Games.

4) If Steam is a Monopoly then why does Epic have more Epic Exclusive games then Steam has Steam exclusive games. their only Steam exclusive games are those made by valve themselves however even some of those are available on console.

5) That was Bethesda wanting money for mods because they wanted that the people that made their mods got paid for it, they still do that to this day and this isnt on Steam this is also on console and any other place you can play Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. However Bethesda despite trying to earn money over selling these mods. The mods are still available for free on PC however people on console would have to pay.

Overall i prefer using Steam over the fact that it has these forums that we are using currently to discuss this. It has a shopping cart, achievements, more consumer rewards (the recently added Steam points and additional discount during sales). I mean the list of what EGS is missing compared to even launchers like Uplay and Origin is just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke. Even online webshops have more then EGS Launcher, EGS Launcher is an unfinished piece of junk.

Also Steam doesn't crash whenever Fortnite is having an event. i got booted out of EGS several times just because apperently the servers couldn't handle the Star Wars event in Fortnite. This already shows terrible server management and it took 6 hours to fix the issue.

In comparrison i had one problem with Steam Servers in the past 8 years. However unlike epic, Steam has offline mode, allowing me to still play all installed Steam games on my PC without the need for internet.

You also bring up crossplay but that it isnt epic who decides that for fighting games, its the fighting game devs themselves.

Steam on the otherhand has made fighting games (and a bunch of other games) much more accesible to play by introducing Steam Controller Support (for all controllers though the use of DS4 isn't disadvised). and Play Together allowing me to stream a co-op game to my friend and play it together without using some weird software found online.

Finally this is very well known Epic is snooping around your data. They even know who your Steam friends are before asking permission.
