Is this a troll post or is OP just ridiculously misinformed? Steam sale's cut is the industry standard:
https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/10/07/report-steams-30-cut-is-actually-the-industry-standard
So obviously Steam has never been the reason for a company to be bankrupt.
The cut is actually even better than on PS4 and xbox because games that sold a lot of copies even have a reduced cut.
And it's fair that it's higher than on Epic because Steam offers an enormous amount of features that I want to use and that's a serviec that's need to be paid too. Epic has jack sh!t in comparision and hardly even improves their garbage-level service. The publisher may benefit, but the players don't at all.
It's also a blatant lie, that people have been permanently muted on the entire Steam platform for voicing critique. People might have been banned from the Skyrim discussion but these bans are handled by community moderators set by Bethesda, NOT Valve.
Not to mention that the paid-mods parts was removed a single day later.
EDIT - LMAO. He's had most of his reviews banned on Steam. That's why he doesn't like it, he's got a bee in his bonnet with a mod who's handed him his arse and he's crying now. This is beautiful.
Anyways, why not post this on Epic forums? It would've gotten the reaction that you wanted.
Oh wait...
I love that argument. :) You know, Steam has free games, too? And if you really want to support developers, why aren't you buying the game at full price? Why are you waiting for cheap or free games? How do you support the developers like this?
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious, where did you pull this out from?
Reference please... otherwise it's just opinion, and opinion's are like a-holes, everyone has one.
How can a company go bankrupt because Steam is taking a larger cut than other companies? If they were in the position, they would have been screwed before they were even able to sell their game on the platform.
2) They don't save money, they just earn more. because of the the fact that Steam wants 30% of the money and Epic only 12% (more on that later)
3) No company has gone bankrupt from selling on steam, the company still gets like 70% of their profit which is removed once 5 million copies are sold and then get full 100% of their proft meaning that if a game is successfull they'll earn more then they would on Epic Games.
4) If Steam is a Monopoly then why does Epic have more Epic Exclusive games then Steam has Steam exclusive games. their only Steam exclusive games are those made by valve themselves however even some of those are available on console.
5) That was Bethesda wanting money for mods because they wanted that the people that made their mods got paid for it, they still do that to this day and this isnt on Steam this is also on console and any other place you can play Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. However Bethesda despite trying to earn money over selling these mods. The mods are still available for free on PC however people on console would have to pay.
Overall i prefer using Steam over the fact that it has these forums that we are using currently to discuss this. It has a shopping cart, achievements, more consumer rewards (the recently added Steam points and additional discount during sales). I mean the list of what EGS is missing compared to even launchers like Uplay and Origin is just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke. Even online webshops have more then EGS Launcher, EGS Launcher is an unfinished piece of junk.
Also Steam doesn't crash whenever Fortnite is having an event. i got booted out of EGS several times just because apperently the servers couldn't handle the Star Wars event in Fortnite. This already shows terrible server management and it took 6 hours to fix the issue.
In comparrison i had one problem with Steam Servers in the past 8 years. However unlike epic, Steam has offline mode, allowing me to still play all installed Steam games on my PC without the need for internet.
You also bring up crossplay but that it isnt epic who decides that for fighting games, its the fighting game devs themselves.
Steam on the otherhand has made fighting games (and a bunch of other games) much more accesible to play by introducing Steam Controller Support (for all controllers though the use of DS4 isn't disadvised). and Play Together allowing me to stream a co-op game to my friend and play it together without using some weird software found online.
Finally this is very well known Epic is snooping around your data. They even know who your Steam friends are before asking permission.
