is it normal to randomly lose pelts?

so I'm in online.. came across a 3 star deer - shot it with 1 shot to head, killed it ... went and skinned it - was only a 2 star pelt when I skinned it.. then walked over to my horse, and held R to stow it.. and it didn't go on my horse, and it didn't drop on the ground anywhere near my horse or where I killed it - or between the kill and my horse... its completely vanished?? is this a bug or something? I'm new to online..

Happens really often, not sure if its a hack or an unfixed bug with the game tbh. I'm leaning towards hackers.

Best bet is to jump between lobbies until you find one that doesn't have the bug

Yeah happens to me quite a lot. I'm not sure if it's a bug (unlikely as it works perfectly fine in SP), an issue with the PvP nature of RDO and latency, or the work of modderboi griefing.

I just ran into a hacker that teleported everyone in the lobby to him .. and just lost a 2 star corpse .. and got killed by someone else.. and before that my horse randomly got killed trying to go over train tracks.. yeah online is terrible and so unenjoyable :/ ... also had a 3 star deer turn into a 2 star again when i shot it in the head.. sighhh ... how can i even make money / play as a new player like this?? mission don't even pay $30 and hunting seems to be like $1 a pelt.. like seriously?

and ontop of all that - apparently i got teleported all the way to tumbleweed -- which is like the complete other side of the map where i was trying to go .... and i have the starter horse which is so bad and ... seriously.. it takes like 10 minutes ( LITERALLY ) to ride from 1 town to another on the starter horse.... come on

I really do not understand the least bit why Rockstart refuses to ban hackers/cheaters in MP or implement an anticheat.

They only bothered banning the racist hackers only because of racism - but they just pulled the brake on outright fixing the cheating problem itself. They were already trying to fix things but they only stopped at one

I feel like rockstar make decent single player games, decent worlds to explore, decent activies, like fishing / hunting .. but absaloutely trash multiplayer / online ... I guess whatever keeps bringing in the money for them ... they never banned / stopped hacking in gta 5 becuase it forced people to buy sharkcards, or multiple accounts / copies of the games whenever they did actually ban people :/ red dead 2 seems very much the same :/

and also why does my horse need so much food ?? i can't even afford food for him .. yet his cores are draining so fast .... I'm literally going to be without a horse in a matter of probably an hour...

If you want to make faster money then go the fishing route, specifically angling for sockeye salmon or steelhead trout. Sell them in Saint Denis for an easy $5 each (10 x $5.25 = $52.50). I usually do that and take a bow with small game arrows and search the water bank for any large fish close to the sure and shoot them and throw it on the back of the horse before departing. That or just hunt for gators (and gator eggs) in Lemoyne. It's easier and faster than deer.

Because that's bad PR. They care more for their image than the frustrations of the players of a product they've likely deemed a financial dead-end.

Stop doing handbrakes? Those will instantly drain your horse's entire stamina. Just buy hay - It's like a couple of dollars for a full stack of it. Nothing you can't earn in a few minutes doing a random mission or selling some ill-gotten loot.

Not doing handbrakes, I just started, and only have the starter horse. He's stamina and health cores are constantly draining. not the rings outside, but the actual cores. and he has almost no rings around his cores. like his are draining I want to say at least 10 times faster then mine.
also I don't have money for a fishing rod, or any baits/ lures... between the constant having to feed my horse.. and constant run in with hackers and extremely long match making times and loading times ... honestly I have not really had the chance to make money, or do anything.. I've done a few missions, but earnt so little that I'm almost out of bullets for my rifle.. and just .. urgh I don't think I'll ever get into the multiplayer .. probably just stick to story mode

I understand you and know how feel. Specially because you are in australia and playng with asian players(more cheater in that region unfortunately).

And yes is better to not play online if you have this issue. In europe, on my case, i see the cheater every week but only one time and immediately change sessione. After that i still in peace for entire days/week(i have 400 hours on this game). I mean is playable in my case.

You could try picking plants to feed to your horse. They're free when you find them in the wild after all. Have you done the mission that gives you a Kentucky Saddler yet or are you still using the starter nag? But yeah RDO has its fair share of frustrations. Modders/griefers are really compounding it at the moment.

Right - The starter horse is bad. Really bad. But it's basically free (I think you even get the respawn horse insurance from the stable free/cheap)

Once you have that insurance, If you're really, really desperate shoot the horse, wait a minute or two and whistle and it'll pop back with some core regained (Or if you have literally no horse you'll get a freebie horse temporarily)

As for not having the rings - This is part horse stats, part horse equipment (this lets you get all of the levels shown as potential in the stable) and part horse bonding. Bonding is basically just keep using the horse, feeding it and brushing it as needed. (This also unlocks the later skills like the handbrake)

If you're desperate for money, hunt some animals, drag them onto the horse (don't skin anything larger than you can fit in your hands because of a "animal skins vanish" bug ongoing) and sell them to a butcher for some pocket money.

You can also hold F1 when the Free Roam events appear every... 30 minutes? or so. These might not all be super fun, but just being there till the end earns you money and XP for participating. Even if you're out of bullets (You can resupply all guns on the loadout screen as well)
