Not to mention the random diggable loot on the map. your ability to generate income on just jewelry and coin sets alone will more than double your income.
Basically the metal detector will pay itself off quickly if you are willing to use it and have a map.
If you aren't going to use a map then the metal detector does not help you find anything. It only has a range of about 30 feet and doesn't do anything if you don't have it equipped.
Also, there are daily challenges that require that you either find a collectible using a metal detector or using a shovel. The first is impossible without a metal detector, and the second is way easier with it.
And with the salvage collector free roam event, many collectibles are buried such that you need the metal detector to find them.
As for the moonshiner upgrades, if you're focusing on it right now, then upgrading the still is definitely worth it, and it might make sense to do that before buying the metal detector, because without an improved still, it's very hard to make money with the moonshiner role, whereas you do _much_ better once you can make strong mash. However, the other upgrades are basically only worth it for daily challenges. The bar serves _no_ useful function whatsoever. It just provides a place where you can invite other players to come to (if you feel so inclined) and the ability to complete a few of the moonshiner daily challenges that require it. You get no money from it, and it doesn't help you do anything related to the moonshiner role. Ultimately, you're just paying cash for the opportunity to get some gold via daily challenges.
Personally, I'd probably get the metal detector first and then do a long distance trader delivery with the large wagon to make the money for the still upgrades before returning to doing the moonshiner stuff. I wouldn't bother with the bar until after getting the metal detector and the still upgrades.
